They are a great tool, trained many hounds with them. I have trained them all in hunting situations, 3 things happen.....they run and hide til you catch them, lay down til you go get them or they come to you. I have had most do the latter. All you gotta do is yell for them, tone, yell, tone, do this a few times then shock them on the lowest setting. Give them time to settle and do it over. Normally you can get them to come in, increase the shocker power until you get a response. Even if they start coming to you keep toming and yelling even if you know they are coming in and you can see them. Pet them up once they come to you, praze them! Normally 4 to 6 times of this and they are 90% broke. The other 10% is calling them off a track or tree. I usually don't do this until they get the other down pat and have treed several coon solo. I'd be surprised at how smart a dog is and how well you can make the biggest hunters and coon treeer's to handle! A dog loves to have a master this will not hinder the most powerful of coon dogs!
