grand american

I was thinking about going to the grand american this year. Just wondering what kind of terrain they have down there and is it a nice enough event to drive about 8 hrs to get to?

I am also considering going and was wondering what hotels might be the best to try and stay at that are close and might be dog friendly. Sorry Jimbob, not trying to steal your post just thought someone could answer my related question too.

It is a nice event, more vendors and dogs than you will see at any other hunt, I have went every year for the last 12 years. As far as terrain, it all depends on where you draw too, you could be hunting in rolling hills, open river bottoms. or wading up to your neck in a beaver pond, all depends. Hope this helps.

no problem. Your questions are good to know too. Also what are the motel Rates at that time? I was working up by the little league world series and that week the room rates went up 150%.

grand american

There are some great spots such as parts of the low country, norway and close to orangeburg. I drew out of the marion club last year and it was horrible I would have been embaressed to take a cast there. The good thing is they draw the casts early enough and if you see your going to marion or another bad spot withdraw and drive an hour to the pkc hunt they pretty much have good guides for the most part. I have placed in the top 20 3 times in the last 3 years and got lucky and won the whole thing one year with a decent dog. Just like everywhere else it takes good guides, alot of luck, a fair dog and a fair handler. But overall I really like the Grand American.
