pleasure hunter deluxe

I ran across this old photo the other day of my late grandfather {on the right}Audrey Lee Marshall of Caraway Arkansas and one of his hunting buddies. This photo was taken around 1967 or 68. He loved bird dogs and hounds. I never got to hunt with him as he pasted away in 1970 and I was only 5. I sure would have like to when that night. Look like a WHITE RIVER REFUGE hunt. if anyone else has some old coonhunting photos feel free to post them.

Wow, a picture of a hightan too. I don't know why but as a small boy I thought all coon hounds were a hightan.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks again for the comments. I was skinning out some coons at my mom and dads house one morning about 7years ago so my dad could take the meat to my great-uncle and he gave me grandpa's CASE TRAPPER that he skinned coons with. It still had the edge grandpa put on it in 1969. notice the blades have been sharpened so much that they are a lot smaller than my CASE TRAPPER.

Very cool old pictures, now them's some real coonhunters,no garmins,or any of these new fangled gadgets like some use today. A lantern, compass,& the stars above is what they went by,some of these hunters today couldn't hunt with out 'em.

I cant imagine hunting without a garmin now. I guess they had more coons back then or maybe more hunting places. I struggle to find new hunting places.

Years ago some of the redbones had a black saddle the were not pure breds and the saddle back B&T was not pure bred. Today if you want a saddle back B&T all you have to do just like in the old days is cross breed a B&t with a walker and you might get one if not then cross it with a redbone . You will get a few saddle backs, They were cross breds that's all they were, Grade dogs that came out colored like that not a breed of coonhounds. I know, I lived in the time when there were more grade dogs at a hunt then Reg,
. dogs.Saddle backs were just a color not a bred.

Thanks for the info Regan H. For some reason I like that high tan color, but I'm a pleasure hunter and any color coonhound mixed breed or pure breed works for me.
