Breeding question?

A friend has a female walker that he wants to breed to my 10 yr old male walker. I hunt my male every weekend. I was told if I planned on hunting him (it's coon season here in Michigan) that I shouldn't breed him because of his age he would be down for awhile to worn out to hunt. Is this true or is he just pulling my leg.

Depending on the male dog, it can make him "lose his train of thought" for a while and they just run around sniffing butts for a while but it doesn't have any effect on some dogs... So I guess it really depends on your dog. Has he ever been bred before?

Our Sid dog just turned 12 and when he was 10 u could breed him and give him a few hours to rest up and he would be fine. He should be just fine.
