best season to buy a dog?

I just wanted to gets some opinions on the best time of year to look at a dog to see if its got the whole package. This time of year I hunt corn. All the coon are in this time of year which hunting big wood lots is almost pointless. So this time of year you can take an average or less coon dog and it will look good on hot short tracks.
Next is rut. Big bore coon running long tracks you can see how a dog can work a track but it can take up most of the night to see a few coons.
Then snow and cold. I don't even like to be out in the blistering cold
Last is when kits hit the ground. Seems a lot of dogs mess up and stand on their head because there is scent goin every where.

Just wanted to get some opinions

X2 ,I'm like you ,starting right now and right on through the rut. That should give anyone an honest assessment on buying a hound .

If its a coon treer. Don't matter the season. You'll still see most with leaves on. Personally I think the dead heat of summer is the toughest on em here and maybe Feb.
