Garmin astro 320 or Alpha 100 for first time garmin owner?

Which would be the Most user friendly for a person who is new to using a garmin? My husband and I are going to buy one soon, just wanted to see which would be the best to start with.

The touch screen is 10 times better than the rocker on the Astro. I'd go with the Alpha.

It really depends on what kind of hunting you do and your budget. Both systems work quite well. If you plan on hunting competitions, don't get the Alpha. If you only pleasure hunt and can afford the extra money for the Alpha, go that route.

I use both I think the 320 is easier but I like the features the alpha offers. If I was going to buy one and was new to garmin systems I would go with the alpha you might as well learn on the newest technology.

and i beleave you can use them to recover your dog in a hunt you just have to leave it in the truck and use it after the hunt is over plus the train mode and tone button is nice my dogs are tone trained and so i would spend more get more

If he already has a shock collar system and is running two collars already then I'd go with the Astro 320 and a dc50 collar, if he doesn't have a shock collar system then I would go with the Alpha system. Both are good systems and both are fairly easy to use.

Alpha hands down. I can't think of one good reason to choose the Astro over the Alpha.

One good reason... The guide says TIME OUT round up those dogs. I pullout my astro and locate my hound. The guy with an Alpha has a half mile hike back to the truck for a way to locate his.

320, you can add the DC-30 DC-40 and DC-50 collars, yours or the guys you are hunting with, you cant do that with the Alpha. so you are going to be limited, also if you dont have a shocker you can get a new one for about the cost of a Alpha collar.

I figure that problem will be solved byJan. So how many hunts will you hit before then?
