I have a young started pup, that was slick treeing a good amount this.summer. I corrected her recently, now that some of leaves are off. She has responded by, bypassing the treed coon, and running the track back to the den, a couple times now. Any suggestions? Should I call her back into the dog Treed with the coon? If I do that how do I know she isn't by chance running another coon?

Depending on the amount of correction and the age of the pup id say it took it as you didn't what it to tree. Pups need time to learn and will figure things out and you can speed that up by proper training but you can also take steps back by bad training. I prefer awarding them when they do good with a treat or a good pat on the head. when it knows what you want stronger correction can be used. If it doesn't know what it is being corrected for correction is a waist of time. Jmho

Jimbob, I used proper correction, and she still trees, just more like she should, but it seems she has now become more track oriented and is often back tracking. She just turned a year this week and probaby only has 30 nights in the wood. I want to single her out but will have no way of knowing if she missing trees and back tracking.

if you have a shocker with a beeper on it maybe try and beep her if you know she back tracking , I wouldn't in no way shock her , maybe catch some cage coon and turn them loose in a field and let her watch them run and hopefully she can sight chase them to the tree and realize she needs to stay ? that's a hard one to correct , good luck .

She is toned trained. I think my mistake was mental on my part giving her to much credit, thinking she may be on another coon. When in reality she was mostly likely just running the track the wrong way.

She is still young, I think I just tend to worry to much.
