I understand it takes time!! Any tips on getting them to pose? Do you pinch them, stroke them, treat train, make them stand on tacks, stand on blocks? Biggest question is how to get them to bench without having a bad look on there face!! Lol

Personally I start them on the ground first... I'll start with the two front feet.. Normally I'll just cheat and lift them off the ground a bit in the front then set them back down. As soon as their front feet are back on the ground (usually they set down with their legs were they should be) I tell them "STAND". A few seconds of them not moving and they get praised.. Then we move forward and do it again.. You can lengthen the time you have them stand.. And once the front is doing well, you can add the hind legs in..

Once I get them stacking on the ground nicely, I move them to the bench and follow the same method.. By that time they should know that stand means they need to hold still where you put them... Makes it a little easier then trying to get a wriggly dogs to hold still on a bench...

I am no means a bench show expert and spend most of showing time in conformation shows with no bench, but I've found that is the easiest way for me to train one to bench..

Short, quick lessons are the key.. Don't overdue it..

I don't really fuss much with the tail. For me it's the last piece. I'll allow them to move their head as long as they aren't doing it so much they are losing balance or trying to look at me. I just keep straightening their face back out when they turn.
