If it is a Rapid side to side "Sezure" looking movement, The dog may have a Magnesium deficiency ..

Several have used K-Mag. and have it go away overnight .. Many Dog foods are not monitored for Magnesium ... This only guess work ..

K-Mag Aspartate™
120 tablets
Item Catalog Number: 16060

Source Naturals uses extremely high quality potassium and magnesium aspartate in K-Mag Aspartate tablets. Source Naturals K-Mag™ Aspartate is an excellent source of energizing nutrition for athletic activity or fast-paced daily living. Potassium is essential for nerve function, muscle strength, and glycogen formation, among other biochemical processes.

Magnesium plays a key role in over 300 enzymatic reactions, including those involved in the Krebs cycle (the body's main energy production process), the relaxation of muscle tissue, neurotransmitter activity, and hormone regulation. L-aspartic acid also plays a vital role in energy production and is a major excitatory neurotransmitter.

one of the cheapest best treatments for ear issues is found in the women's health aisle of your local pharmacy. Miconozal 7 (sp?) is used to control yeast infections. Most ear issues are yeast related.

I've had the same problem but only when the dog really bays. She shakes her head side to side. Vet has checked her and said she appears to have some of the healthiest ears he's seen. Clean, no mites, no swelling or smells. He only guesses she hits a certain tone and it hurts her own ears or possibly reverberates and "tickles" the inside of her ears so to speak. She will bark from time to time and its fine, except when she really barks loud then she shakes head in between barks. I'v heard allergies from some people. I dont know, itsbeen going on with my dog since spring. I also saw a dog on youtube act same way barking at caged coon. I know its not much help just letten u know your not alone.

Head Shaking

We have a male Blk & Tan that has this problem. Vet said he has a deep inner ear infection. He prescribed an ear wash & Put him on Prednizone Tabs for about 2 weeks. The Prednisone helps alot, but, he's on a schedule for taking it for only 2 weeks. The head shaking comes back. So the Vet Prescribes the Prednizone for me every 2 or 3 months. You can't give it on a regular basis. We also feed him 100% Grain Free "4 Health" Dog food from Tractor Supply. We stay away from any Beef or Ingredients on bag that that says meat products. There are 3 bags that are Grain Free. That seems to help some. There's a good ear wash by Davis with Boric Acid in it @ Jeffers Vet Supply. 1-800-jeffers or www.jeffers.com. We order ours by the gallon & put in smaller bottle with nozzle.
We have used the Monistat 7 (Generic) for yeast infection & Tenactin Powder for Atheletes Foot also in the ears. They seem to help also. Some people I've heard use Ivermec in each ear once a month. 1/3 to 1 cc in each ear.
Good Luck with yours,
Gale Lilly

Quite often people mistake ear problem for ear mites when the dog has a fungal infection of the ear...Monastat 7 female product or if you don't want to go wondering down that isle atheletes foot cream like lotrimin will work ...any good antifungal cream treats these yeast issues.
Ivomectrin does kill ear mites .

I have bought Ear Mite Treatments @ some of the bigger hunts from the venders. Can't remember the exact name but It had Sulfer in it. I believe I bought it from Eddie Franklin Supply's.
Cynthia, when I have time I will type in 2 recipes I have.

I have some of what you are calling the "ear mite" recipe. I didnt want to use that on one of them as I believe she has a raw spot (dried blood) and it would burn bc of the alcohol.
I have used that for regular ear issues as well.

Monistat 7 (Generic is good enough) seems to sooth Scout's ears. He doesn't seem to mind that as much as the other washes & recipes. Expecially if the dog has a raw spot. Might even try the Tinactin Powder.

Seems to help to change around on the remedies. They seem to get imune to them if you use just one all the time.
