Overly open
Took a dog hunting last night here deep southeast ky on black mountain. When I hunted him alone he would hunt fine but when I turned another dog out with him he would act like he was opening on track almost the entire time. Up and down the mnt and up and down the hollers. On the garmin you can see how he would back track himself out about 300+ yards then back to 100 and zig zagging. This tormented me because I like a dog that's quiet till he strikes a hot sent and then in a min or so hes.on tree. I feel as if the dog was running rabbit but did not try to correct him because it was my first night out with him. Did not tree last night either........was gonna get some more opinions since I was alone last night. Gonna try to take him out again tonight with a friend

He didnt get under a coon...and he is alot faster than the other dog......what I'm saying is that im use to a dog not barking untill he hits a hot trail then withing mins hes treed....this dog seems like as soon as hes off the lead he starts barking when hes with another dog. But if hes alone he dont he will do like im used to.

Its fun...I use a side by side most the time...ride the ridges till ur over them and walk down lol....hopefully this rain holds off and I can fool with him some more tonight

Yeah a side by side would be nice.I had a young dog that would bark behind the old dogs for long periods of time.It was very annoying and very obvious what he was doing but after a few bumps with a shocker he quit the babbling.Yours may not be doing this but it's a possibility.How old is this hound?

I agree with that Josh.I have no use for that kinda dog.Cant stand them.If a man can't win a hunt with an honest strike dog he might as well hang it up.

Went hunting last night he started the same thing right outta the box bumped.him once.and didnt do it again the rest of the night...he is right around 2 I believe but I believe he just aint been.hunted in a while.and gets excited..he took lead for the most of the night hunting about 120yds out right with our old black and tan,they struck around 9:50 and treed around 10pm and held the tree till 11:15 when we had just managed to get 30ish.yards from them and they come off...**** I was mad we scaled the side of the mountain in loose dirt and rock grabing vines shrubs or whatever we could get out hands on to pull ourselves up little by little.....but the coon had slipped the tree on them and the black and tan went down the ridge came back and put us under the meat 40yds away from where she originally treed..the bluetic struck at the bottom and found out it was a skunk from the smell and yelp....I called him back to the tree the b/t made shot it down and off they went....we slid down the hillside in a rush to get to them and got to the bottom and had nothing to get ahold of to stop ourselves and slid over a 12ish ft drop off....luckily because any where else would have been 20_40ft.....we really had to work for that coon but it was well worth it cause I got to see the.blue dog has some potential and the plot dog I got.burnt on is nothing.but trash
And I dont want a dog that all bark bark cause he's happy to be out....I want a dog thats bark bark when hes on the trail..I dont comp hunt and never will..

Right on man.Im with you I I'm a pleasure hunter and don't won't to hear a my dogs bark till they smell a coon.Dont care how many hunts can be won with a auto strike dog cause that ant my style.Goodluck with that young dog and I'm sure them mountains will wear him down.

man reading this story REALLY makes me love ole missouri good old flat cornbelt country with lots of coons and no sliding down mountainsides and shooting off dropoffs GEEEEESH ! sounds like mountain marine training not pleasure hunting.

Well the blue dog had a bad night tonight. First drop turned out a dog with.him I know nothing about and he took off bout 4 min in he started barkin I figured I would let it play out so I can for sure catch him up in it...he ran out about 500yds then down the mountain so I circled up to the road and listened, he staryed back up the hill still bawling every breath then I look in front of me and a doe and a buck jumped up the hill into the road and took off, he was about 60yds behind him and I zapped him....he tucked tail and came in.. then he took back off and struck right where the deers crossed the road so I lit him up like a Christmas tree he then ran back and jumped straight into the box and I closed it up and the other dog loaded up too...I then took them down the ridge a ways and turned them loose again they both took off good and I pulled up to a flat area to let them hunt. And I then seen a rabbit I was thinking if that dog hits that rabbit trail im goin home...sure enough he did and I lit him up again.I loaded them both up and took off...I thought I would drop him by hisself and maybe he would do better...so I took him and dropped him at a old pond and he wouldnt hardly get out of sight. Believe the shicker may have got to him......so when he does what hed been.doing apparently hes runnin deer
