I would go with the pro plan puppy over the adult dog food for a puppy

I'm not a expert but I worked for a dog food distributer and tried feeding just about every food from purinia to diamond and many others. My pups all ways seemed to have rally soft and messy stool when fed puppy food alone. I started to mix half high protein adult food usually lamb & rice and they seemed to be cleaner. The better the feed the more pups get out of it without just passing it though them. Hope I helped.

I have fed the P1 puppy (not large breed) and PP puppy. I do not like the chows although some ppl use and do well with it. PC has 3 varieties, 2 that have colored pieces and 1 that has mostly brown pieces. I have a concern giving puppies (and adults for that matter) food with dyes in it (green, red). depending on how many you are feeding, if you can afford it, I would feed the PP puppy. for 1 or 2 pups it will last a while. I've never given a pup adult food unless I was out or an emergency. I feed puppy food until they are at least a yr old. there have only been a couple that came off puppy at 8-9 mon old. never had a problem with stools on PP or P1.

Puppy chow.we never feed. Goes straight threw them. Pro plan yes

Puppy chow . A waist of money.this is my thought on it.

I've had the problems with Puppy Chow with the green pieces in it but always have firm stool when fed the brown pieces. All of my pups are started on Puppy Chow and you've all seen pics of my pups for years, they do not look like they are wanting for anything do they?

I never feed any dog food that has Corn or Chicken By-Products (in any shape or form) in the first three ingredients. I feed the Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice for Adult dogs and they have a puppy Lamb and Rice that I feed to pups. Good stools, kennels easy to clean, dogs not barky and stupid in pens they seem satisfied and look good.

I have fed Purina Puppy Chow, Purina Beniful Puppy and Purina One puppy. I never liked the fact of the colored pieces in the Beniful but I've found most puppies seem to like it best.
