A big thank you...Rambo IV handlers

I would like to think Jeremy Lasley and my Uncle Tim Smiley for stepping upand taking Rambo IV to the regionals in Texas. My dad is Lonnie Smiley and he has been having health problems for a while now. He was really looking forward to taking Rambo to this hunt as he thought it would probably be his last chance to hunt THE BIG ONE. The night before the regionals he suffered another stroke and therefore was not able to go to the hunt. Tim and Jeremy stepped up with no notice and took Rambo to Texas and had the high scoring dog on night one and will be the ones taking him on to the world hunt. It ment alot to dad and I would just like to say thanks for stepping up.
Thanks
Jeremy Smiley

Lonnie

Thought I'd share a story about Mr. Smiley . Back in 2004 I bought my first coonhound , blue tick gyp that went back to Slifes Rambo on her top side she was 12 months old . Her and I both were green as grass when it came to coon hunting . I purchased a male pup from up in Baxter Mo. Well on my way home I decided I'd stop in Leslie and meet this fellow that had the Rambo line . I pulled up to his place and introduced myself and begin chatting about hounds. Told him of the young gyp I had etc... He said I really needed a older hound to hunt her with . Told me I was welcome to take one of his old hounds and hunt with her . Couldn't believe it , just meet him and he i trusted me with on of his hounds . Seems like the hounds name was (Easy) not sure . Well sure enough he really helped get the gyp started . Talked to Lonnie on the phone about bringing his hound back . Turns out he had someone down south here that was gonna hunt him for awhile . So I got him to the hunter down here . It bothered me for sometime not being able to shake Lonnie hand and thank him for his help . This last spring I got a chance to stop bin and thank him . It was nice to visit and talk hounds with him again . He told me then he was gonna try and make one last run this year at World . I really hate to hear of his misfortunes lately . Will continue to hold he and family up in prayer . Mr. Smiley not only contributed to the bluetick world , I'm sure there are many other stories like mine where he helped a young hunter get started in our fine sport . Thank you Lonnie for all that you done helping me . Wish nothing but the best for the fellows hunting IV in the big dance .

I'm real sorry to here about Lonnie, we hunted against each other a lot 17 or more years ago. The Rambo dogs were always hard to beat and Lonnie was always nice while he was putting a whooping on you.

Our old female Davis's White River Salin Sadie was off RamboII and by the way 2 littermate female off Sadie is in the top finals. RamboII and Lonnie did there part for our breed.

Lonnie and Rambo iv

Sorry to hear about Lonnie's condition and will be praying for his healing and family. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Smiley last summer after several phone calls and hours and the phone. He is easy to talk with and made me grin and laugh often. This world would be a better place with more like him. I also got to meet Rambo iv while at Lonnie's farm picking up a pup. He is a great looking dog Congratulations on the zones and wish him and the handlers well. GO TEAM SMILEY !!!!!
