Scratch or Not?

Never had it happen but just wondering how would you deal with it. Turn a cast loose on a feeder w dog food in the feeder, dogs stop at feeder and start eating then a dog fight breaks out over eating. I know you suppose to scratch them for fighting but some dogs fight over their food. How would you go bout this? Just was thinking bout it and seems it could go ether way here to me.

I sure can't see a question here. Are you thinking some dogfights are excusable? They aren't!

That's what I was going with but didn't know what everyone else thought bout it. Some dogs don't like others in their food and just wondering what would happen if it ever happened.

Scratch them all.

Kick guides @$$ for dumping you on the feeder with dogfood

Lol True. What made me think bout it was a man told me the other weekend on his cast all the dogs stopped at the guide's feeder and started eating. He had dog food in his feeders. I told him they should of fed them before hunting them and sound like they need a dog that has coon on the brain when it got turned loose.

I think they were setup for failure but during a hunt I don't think you would have any choice but to scratch .

I was hunting at the zones in 2005 and we turned loose on feeder that had dog food in it and the reserve PKC national champion was on that cast and she stopped and started eating feed out of the feeder, the judge had to start the time on her for failing to hunt, she stayed there so long, she finally left when the other dogs struck. But to answer your question, dogs would have to be scratched, there is nothing in the rules that says there are certain situations where fighting dogs are not scratched, it says under the authority of the judge and that starts when the judge is handed the scorecard and ends when he turns the scorecard in so if dogs fight for any reason during the time that the judge has the score card, they are scratched.

Is this true? I hear a lot of people on here saying they hunt on feeders in hunts.

What kind of feed was in the feeder? If it was Ol' Roy it probably was worth fighting over. LOL.

No rules against it but if you need it for your hound to tree the easy coon then you need to evaluate what your hunting.

I was thinkin' the same thing but more like ain't got much of a hound if it can't find it's own coon.
