What's out there ?

What's a good feed and/or supplement to help keep weight on a dog ? He's healthy just getting hunted hard.

I have great success with Diamond High Energy... I feed 3 to 4 cups once a day and my dogs look good... have tried several other brands and they don't seem to work for my dogs like Diamond does... it does cost a little more but I feed less of it so it evens out.

I've had the opposite expeirence with diamond high energy. Ran right thru them and clean up was as bad as anything I ever fed. Diamond naturals or extreme athlete isn't too bad but the rest of diamond feed has been garbage. Used to be good stuff 20 years ago.

I get mine from tractor supply... I can see a difference in my dogs energy level also when hunting... and another reason I use the high energy it is a 50lb bag instead of a 40lb.. I just picked a bag of it up this evening from tractor supply and I think the price here in Teays Valley, WV was 28.99 before taxes... but as I said I usually feed right at 2 bags a month for 3 dogs.. and they all three look good... actually have one that doesn't need as much as I feed her!! haha..

Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete. Cheaper than pro plan, no corn or other fillers and will absolutely make your dog look ripped if hunting hard..little clean up also.

Diamond high energy

Diamond high energy, black gold dried up in these parts about a year ago. Switched to diamond high energy with great results. Ratio has to be spot on or you will have a mess in the kennel. Hounds have nice muscle mass

By healthy I mean he's been vet checked and its not a health problem. He just needs a better quality feed or supplement to be hunted as hard as he gets hunted.

Regardless if he is healthy, when they're hunted heavy they always need an extra boost in protein and crude fat, especially a dog with a high metabolism. So there's your problem GarminGuru.

Dea topped with k9 super fuel daily best diet you will get !! He won't get run down and won't get dehydrated and will look like a body builder L!!! Bottom line most don't hunt a dog nearly hard enough to run them down but if you do if you do those two things you will be more then satisfied!!!!

Nah, I do not think there is a problem since the vet said he was healthy. If the vet said he was unhealthy and under weight, then there would be a problem.
Why do people think dogs need to carry around excess body fat?

Diamond extreme athlete will do what you want not much clean up and only have to feed a couple cups a day accordingly.

Point being; Even if the dog is heathly/vet checked/wins healthiest dog of the year, when they're hunted heavy they still need to take in more than usual because they're burning more and using more energy than opposed to being hunted little to none. Nothing was said about having 'extra fat'.

won't chance my dog to another diamond death batch!

i think if we would read the labels real good on all this dog feed we probly wouldn't want to feed none of it
