Had a dog get one that had infection down in her ear drain down and cause an abscess. Another possibility is infected salivary gland. Or coming from the teeth.
Luckily meds and drain took care of it and never had a repeat instance. I was warned if that did not take, she would have to have surgically to take care of it.
Matter of fact, I had surgery yesterday for an abscess and infected sweat gland. 2nd surgery since January.
Sometimes when meds to do not work, they have to be dealt with surgically, and sometimes even then they return and has to be dealt with again surgically.
Same with dogs.
buckmaster, does the dog get the abscess the same time of year each time......For example, when it happens, it happens only in the summer. Or does the dog get it at different times when it happens?
There is definitely an underlining problem that would keep causing the abscess to keep returning.
