Well as some of you know bear hadn't been well as of recent. I couldn't stand seeing him in bad shape so I had more tests and some x rays done on him. We found out he was battling cancer around the stomach, spleen and liver . He went from a fat healthy happy ole sap to wasting away . I made the sad, but logical decision to put bear down today . Only lived 10 short years but I enjoyed him alot and still will enjoy pups and grand pups off him for years to come . Thank you everyone that bought, bred to and is currently hunting a pup off Bear . I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and still am .

Hate to hear that, they get old way to fast, IV got one that's 9 and I know the day will come for him allso just hate the thought of him not greeting me every morning with that big loud bawl till I pat him on his big O head.

i know how much you cared and liked Bear i'm sorry that you lost him so soon, it seems that every good dog i have had died of cancer, keep you chin up you have and there is a lot of good pups out there out of him and you should be proud of what you have put into the walker breed.

Thanks for the kind words my friends. He did at least live until 10 but the last people to breed to him a few weeks ago where in dis belief when I told them the news . They all made the comment ... " he was so healthy when we seen him last!" And that he only looked like a 5 year old. I guess that's the real downfall of our sport ... Every 10-12 years (the ones we keep) we have to lay an old hunting partner to rest that some of us have spent more hours with than anyone else . It's tough. He wasn't the nicest dog I've owned , but was alot of fun to hunt and was a coondog.

I bred bear the very first time around 09 my senior year of high school . I believe he now has well over 100 pups on the ground and counting . I've got 3 very nice young dogs off him in my kennel. 20 frozen breeding for later . And already grand pups out of Fred bear and Blackbean doing some winning. Jess Dickerson , the man himself had bear at his house for a couple of months and bred several females . Two of their own and while he was at it ... Finished him to GrNt ; that alone is something I woulda only imagined in my head as a kid in high school reading the American cooner.

All I want to say is thank you to everyone that took a look at bear or a pup off him. I had a lot of fun while it lasted! There are some very very nice crosses on the ground or coming . Don't miss out

Sorry Dan, I know how it feels. All you can do is keep his blood going with dogs like Hank. The only time Ive cried since I was an adult was when CHief died. These hounds make impacts on our lives like no one can understand. Keep your head up and Bear blood alive.
