Top Twenty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be intrested to know how many of the 54 were monkey faced. I bet it was more than 50 percent. That is why I like those monkey faced dogs.

I have a couple questions.

1. Where is everybody else ? 66 men represented the breed in the World Hunt all these years? Are you kidding me! Where are the rest of the ABTCHA members? I thought the membership was around 1300-1400 strong.

2. The dogs that made multiple showings in the Top 20 of the World Hunt, why do we not see those dogs in the majority of our pedigree's today???

3.DNA question... I nominate Sonny Phipps to take the ball and run with getting these dogs that win at the bigger events randomly tested. Sonny brings up a good point and I believe you are the man for the job to get UKC on board with this I applaud you.

Most of the members don't actually hunt the hunts they pay the dues and raise dogs. I see lots of back yard bnt breeders around my area. the sire and **** couldn't tree a coon if they had to!

2. The dogs that made multiple showings in the Top 20 of the World Hunt, why do we not see those dogs in the majority of our pedigree's today???

Many of these dogs were really nice hounds I suspect but the owners didn't take big magazine ads out and push them in the breeding pens,, (these were prob coondogs not brood males and or females) that seems to be what I see around is who ever has the right last name and who has the adds in the books is who breeds the most females don't matter if the wins that dog has are me to wins. Now this is just what I see in my area!

This is why I don't pack a black dog! the good ones are hard to find to even get a pup out of! I can count on one hand the number of good black dogs I have seen and most were out of country coon dogs!

I think it points out that more of us should hunt harder. I'm doing my best to get a mess of young black ones going that I plan to push hard in the hunts. I can only speak for myself but I'm a die hard Black and Tan man you won't find anything else at the end of my leash unless in getting paid to hunt it. I can see that we might be behind the other breeds in percentages or numbers but I believe the breed is heading in the right direction.

A very interesting post, one time top twenty good job,two time super, but skaggs queen four times in four straight years!I am in awe.I would guess that the repete percentages are not any higher for the walker breed, the point Im making the best is the best regardless of color. maybe the black dogs just need more of the best.

Of the hole coondog world all over the U.S. how many dogs in each of the breeds are there is there 100 thousand walker 40 thousand blue ticks what I'm sayin is they have a higher percentage chance to be in the winner circle I don't no the proper amount of dogs but lookin at it like that B & T breed might not be doin to bad if someone had the time to put those stats together

Good point, but more important why are only a small number of black dog enteries?1400 active members, numerous ss sires, performance sires a wildly active forum, but lacking in active participation. How could anyone really expect to make some kind of impact when they do not attend? The most important question to ask is always why?I personaly believe the numbers of walker dogs is not nearly as important as the quality of hounds that are involved, you have to beat the best dogs, dont worry about the rest.

Can't see how we can complain about losing our freedoms when we don't even give each other the freedom to do as we please and mind our own business ... like them housewives that join some hollywood cause and pester us , we got guys telling us what we do with our hounds .

In the history of coonhounds , yall ever see the Walker guys yapping at each other on how to breed winners or what they need to go do ? They just do it cuz that's the general flavor of the breed and who it attracts.

I like to coonhunt , I kinda like B&T's ... I chip in to support the various causes and auctions and yearbook more than most .. I don't breed culls and I give away what pups I do raise .. I'm happy with it .. if you aint and wanna yap about what i need to do then bring it ! Maybe next time you will go mow your lawn or do some chores when you get bored and wanna nag someone .

Good response dirtdevil, how ever I can only ask questions and let the majority respond. I totally agree people can pursue what they like, i am also a pleasure hunter, and do not share the competition spirit nearly as much as I once did.Not to twist your tail, but a little sore are we? Again I do not have the answers, but many questions.

Excellent response Keokuk Kennels!Im sure there are many capable black dogs today. my questions have not always been answered for some time, and I have more to learn, most apparently with succesful breeding. The last couple of years I have witnessed several outstanding black dogs, and expect to see more.Dirt devil has mentioned Rocket fuel a time or too,Interrestingly enough Fuel is one out of five black dogs to repete at the UKC finals. How dirt devil did Fuel catch your attention?

Parents want their kids to be doctors , not rockstars ... is there an answer ? Did those parents do what theirs told them to ?

Employers every day face the dilema of trying to motivate their employees to work like they owners did coming through the ranks ... middle management is the black sheep of the business world , millions of dollars are spent every year trying to solve the same issues with getting a business to run smooth when the boss aint looking.

Now we got coonhunters ... a few hardnosed competitors want everyone else to have their same passion and go hit the hunts and win one for the team .

It's a simple answer ... if God gave us free will and we enjoy it ourselves , the right to be coonhunters and not doctors ... the right to hunt B&T's and not Walkers ... then yall calm down and give it to each other , don't try to take away what God himself has given .

It comes across like the new Christian at work or the local car lot salesmen when folks get on here with ther first good dog , hitting the hunts ... and yapping at everyone else about what they need to do ... and if you list the biggest pushy people .. you will see that indeed , they are hunting the first real special hound most of the time ...

Rocket Fuel is a high level competitor from a long line of stock of the same caliber ... I've hunted with some Rocket bred dogs and can see how they win .....

It's alot easier for a guy wanting to win .. to go buy winning stock than to make their stock winners , lol .... so aside from getting a Walker ... if I was to get the urge to hit the hunts at a high level ... Rocket Fuel would be on a short list of sires to my world beater pup ...

It seems to be a numerical fact ... that the best known producers of lasting influence are dogs that win in tournament style formats of Purina races .... grueling tests of desire and talent tell you what a dog is made of ... closest thing we can get to using a microscope to look at their dna ....it's true context , not just a title or good guide and judge to get a win , etc ...
