Bear!!

Man Me and a couple friends been hunting Mountains of Va. and all we been running is bear! LOL! my friend has a pup he is starting and she has been doing good but really takes a liking to Ol smokey! We have had two coon feeders destroyed in 3 nights. Trail Cam pics of bear tearing it up and it seems like 3 out of 5 nights we getting on one. I have purchased a shock collar and my friend is in the process now of getting his but people have told me that its hard to break a coondog off bear because they smell alike and leave more scent. I figure enough electricity will change anythings mind! Let me know what yall think.

Dogs can tell the difference between coons and bear. I would rather run the bear but if you set on breaking him off bear. shock collar will work. Or you could let the dog catch the bear. had more than one that the bear did all the breaking for me. just kidding..lol

Woke up this morning with the dogs barking, looked out and seen a big one in my garbage. Knot Head had knocked the can over and scattered my garbage all over the place!

bear are everywhere in rockingham county also and seem to keep moving there way closer and closer down in the valley. this time of year they are everywhere. its a lot easier to dodge em come fall when they get some pressure and stay high.

I ran into a boy up in Va yesterday said he just sold a dog that got slapped by a bear and quit baying. He sold it to a fellow from up in the mountains who said he didn't care if the dog wouldn't bay as long as it would run one, said the bear wernt as mean up there as they are down here they would always go to tree lol

If you got any you cant break ill take um right off your hands. They can run bear all they want. As for mtn bear treeing easier it just depends on the bear.

Bear

I sold a pup otta my last litter to a fella named Allen Gibson 2yrs. ago. He's from up in the mountains of Va. & he bear hunts. I called him a couple months ago to see how the pup was doin'. He said he started real well and last year took him to Eastern N.C. for a hunt. Dogs had a bear bayed that was around 500lbs. and the pup got too close.Bear opened up his face. Had to get him stitched up. He also thought it might ruin him.Not the case Allen told me. He said it made him hate 'em more. He learned tho to keep his distance on a bayed bear. He also told me that dog will prolly be leadin' his pack this season.

He's a runner

When we hit him off the feeder the other night dogs run 3.8 miles in about 30 min. average around 6 m.p.h. That's rolling up these mountains. LOL!
