kind of an expensive ear cleaner . does your dog have ear mites ? they make ear cleaning solution that is cheap or vinegar works wonders for a yeast infection . but I wouldn't use ivomect in a dogs ear , just the once a month dose for heartworms .

EAR WASH

I just finished bleaching dog houses/Kennels & washing dogs. I usually rinse ears out after washing dogs with 1/2 Rubbing Alcohol (Clear) & 1/2 Proxide. I have 2 recipes we use off & on for ear problems:
EAR CANKER: 2 oz. (2 Tbsp.) Providine Iodine
14 oz. Apple Cidar Vinegar
I store mine in a mason jar with a lid.
Use 1 Ear Dropper or 1 syringe without needle FULL in Each Ear 2x's a day until better. Then every other day or so for a week or 2.

EAR MITES:
16 oz. Bottle Alcohol
4 Tbsps. Boric Acid Powder (Pharmacy)
16 Drops Gentian Violet 1% Solution (Pharmacy)
I store in a Mason Jar with Lid and use a Syringe or Ear Dropper Full for Each Ear. SHAKE WELL @ EACH USE.
Treatment: 2x's Per day for 2 weeks
1x per day for 2 more weeks
1x per Month There after. (I do this same time each
month as we do Heart Worm Preventative)
We also buy from Jeffers Pet Supply: Davis EarMed Boracetic Flush
12 oz. about $6.99 or a gallon jug $29.49. We buy the gallon size.
Good Luck with Yours.

My vet told me to use a 50/50 solution of vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Works pretty good.

if their ears are bad enough to use brake fluid you might as well just blow the dogs head off.

Ear Mites

Camphophenic once a day three days in a row will get rid of ear mites.
I use a mixure of half alcohol and half iodine to clean ears.

my grandfather used kerosene, sulfur, coaloil and turpentine. if that didn't fix it, there was nothing else and the dog just lived and died.

Guys, There has been some great advice put on here, however, I a few warnings for everybody.

Brake Fluid..... DO NOT USE! It does work, however, it is a serious risk to the dog. It works the same as when you dip your hounds in motor oil for fleas. It smothers out any parasites. However, this is a poisonous substance and can seriously hurt your hound. Remember, whatever you put in their ears will drain to their throat.

Peroxide.....NEVER NEVER NEVER use straight peroxide in any ears!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. There are actually quite a few human deaths each year from people doing this. If using pure peroxide; The peroxide will start to bubble once placed inside the ear, the bubbles are the result of the peroxide forming CO2 gas. This gas can build up pressure and rupture the ear drum. If the ear drum ruptures, the remaining peroxide liquid will travel straight to the brain and kill all brain function. It is an immediate death.

Any substance you put in your dogs ear should be of food or pharmaceutical grade. Also, always watch for an allergic reaction.

A proven mixture for Ear Mites, Cankers, and even mange...

16 oz Isopropal Alchohol, 99%
4 Tbl Sp Boric Acid
1 fl oz Iodine
3 Tbl Sp Sulfur
6 Tbl Sp Peroxide

Put 40 drops (one small syringe full) in each ear twice a day for first 3 days, then decrease to once per day for the remaining 2 weeks. On day one and two, 30 minutes after putting the mixture in your dog's ears, clean their ears with cotton balls to remove the larger deposits of dirt or dead mites.

During this treatment, or many others as well, you will notice a decrease in your hound's ability to smell. Once you complete the treatment, if your dog did have mites or a bad canker, you will notice that your dog will have a stronger nose and a better, possibly even louder bark.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I have been studying biology and chemistry for 6 years now. I am by no means a pharmacist, but I am quite knowledgeable on these subjects.
