Grchgrntch Tn Sweet Ben
I have been asked by a few folks my honest opinion about this dog, I have nothing in it and I will try to describe what I know and have seen from Ben.
I first went hunting with Ben in 2009 in the mountains around Celina Tennessee. It didnt take long til I seen that this dog was something very special.
Since then I have hunted with him many times in different coon populations and very different types of terrain.
I have pleasure hunted with him and also guided him and Ryan in competitions. You will never hear the fredricks brag or talk about Ben much.
In my opinion 40 plus years of hunting coonhounds Ben is no doubt one of the best I have had the pleasure of hunting with.
He can Jam one deep an quick or he can work out an old feeder track and I cant remember ever seeing a blank tree ever.
I have never seen him show any kind of aggression any where anytime. He has a ol fashion houndy kinda mouth that can be heard, gives good mouth on the ground and a houndy locate that we all can call and will roll it over to a hound type steady tree dog.
There seems to be no end to how far Ben will go to find a coon with that being said he wont go by a coon either, I have seen him get out of pocket and have to drive to him and locate him with the garmin many times but he always will be under a tree with a coon. I have never seen him Junk in anyway.
I plan on trying someway to get this dogs genetics into my Kennel if I could clone him I would.
I dont know alot about his breeding just that he is somewhat line bred back to Jesse Lee's dog he called Stormin Norman.
I really would like to see a pedigree on Norman and maybe another on Ben.
I hunted with this dog just a few nights before NRD and on a public forum had him picked him to win in holmesville, thats the type of dog he is and thats what I think of him.
I also have said that I know he has the ability to win at the world level, and also said that even a dog of this caliber will not win them all. i will stick behind what I have said about his ability to win at any level.
I hope this helps, its just my opinion and I think if anyone that knows what a coondog is hunted with him it wouldnt take to long until I think you would agree.
Thanks for reading,
Maybe Danny or someone can post some peds for us.
I LIKE BEN ALOT, I THINK HE HAS ALOT TO OFFER!!!!!!!!!!
