Male chasing Female...

What are some methods that you guys use for a male dog that follows a female through the woods while hunting? My male has never been bred, is three years old and will follow certain females through the timber and forget about coon hunting. These females show no sign of being in heat and the other males pay them no attention. Just some advice please.

I have always wondered if any of the handlers ever sprayed the scent of a dog in heat on their female to gain an unfair advantage. Similar to doe in heat for a buck you would think a male dog would do the same. You might could also use scent like that to break a dog from being interested. ??

This started a few months ago. He went the first couple of years not showing any interest and now he wants to follow most females, not all.

Would you shock him every time he even sniffs a gyp? Or just when he follows one?
