1%, how bout .0001%

i'm a member of my county's republican party. there are 195,000 residents in this county. today we had a booth at a county park to help get the word out about the GOP. out of the 190,000 residents it was i who had the pick up needed to take all the things for the event to the park. i think we had around 12 people to man the booth, including setting up and take down.
that's it, that's all the people that would give their time to the cause of participative government and this is a red county. only one word comes to mind, apathy.

Did you get the word out on Lejeune? More die hard repubs than you can shake a stick at. Sometimes they just don't know what is going on in town.

no, i am not the only repub. with a truck. there must be another. but, i was the only one at that time that had one, was willing to use it and available to help. there are many repub. but as always, few that will take the time to help. based only on my experience, this county has a lot of current and former marines. by and large, they do not get involved. i suspect it's because this is not seen as their home. they are reluctant sojurners here, kinda like tourist. i think they vote repub. but they do very little work. many believe that they may not get involved with politics. the same is true of civil servants.
