Purina Dog Chow

I have feed purina products for years, dog Feed, Horse Feed etc etc. I dont know how much longer I will be feeding Purina Dog Chow, I see it's on sale at Fleet Farm for $21.00 a bag.

The weight of the bags keeps getting smaller and smaller, at first it was 50lbs then it went to 44lbs now it's a 42lb bag. Even with the rebate checks I'm begining to think it's not worth feeding the Dog Chow.

Now it maybe worth feeding the Pro Plan, same weight of bag, feed less and for $16.00 more get better quailty of feed. Use the rebate checks and it would only be $9.00 more.

I hate to say this, but get used to this. Dog feed consumers are in a bad way, prices are going to go up, way up. Im still feeding Dog Chow to the hounds that are not hunted hard. I even raise pups off Dog Chow with success. Is the feed great? NO but it does offer a quality substitute untill you want to hunt hard.

even at $25 a 50lb bag it's still a good deal. that only .50/lb. what else can you buy to feed dog cheaper than that? what i'm saying is, dog food is a fairly cheap commadity, regardless of how you spell it.

Purina

I have to say that I have been through just about every kind of feed on the market and by far Purina is the best! Dog Chow is the best maintenance feed with the least clean up and Pro Plan Performance is the best feed on the market. I think it's absolutely too expensive but I can't find anything that is cheaper and even close in quality to make me want to switch! I used to have to spray kennels down almost daily with several other feeds. Now that I feed Purina products I can shovel them daily and spray them once a week! Pro plan performance gives the dogs I hunt hard awesome energy levels and they stay muscled up! I hope prices don't force me to switch because I love feeding my hounds Purina products!

Love it

I have tried different brands but always come back to it. walmart is by far the cheapest around here. its funny my wife feeds pedigree to her dogs. I have seen that I feed a little less plus my hounds seems to hold there wait better and less mess to clean up. Jmo.

Yep same here. I feed 3 cups once a day per dog and they stay looking good. If I was hunting hare I would go to the butcher and freeze scraps. It builds jaw power and they like it in the summer. I have just been to lazy to do it lately. I would have to cut there dog food in half to keep the weight down.

Purina dog chow... If you do some research or listen to the dogfood experts you will learn that it is junk. The problem i have with that is simply that my dogs look great, they have nice muscle tone, their coats are shiney, and they live long healthy lives. GO FIGURE.

Sam's Club

Sam's carries Purina Dog Chow in the 50lb. bags they just raised the price on us from $21.95 to I believe $23.95. I still buy it from Walmart in a pinch but Sam's is cheaper per pound.

I'm not complaining about the quailty of dog chow, just the size of the bag. I dont mind feeding the dog chow the bags keep getting smaller is what pisses me off.

i suppliment purina dog chow with other things like small fish i catch and grill and give one to each dog, road kill deer, i cook vinison and rice with sweet potatos and mix that with dog chow too and whatever i have left from the table. i don't have to but dog food, regardless of the manufacturer and the cost, can not be that great for a dogs health. what can be left in the heat of my garage for a long time and be feed to a dog. it can't be good. the dog food can't be as good as a hot dog and i don't eat them becaue of all the crap in them..

25/18

I just bought a bag of it today...Wal Mart 36# $23.48 It is supposed to have beef in it. So the label says...Not a bad price if it does good with the dogs...They cut the [ One chicken /rice] down to 31 # bag for $30.
If this new feed is anything like the old Hi-Pro then it will be great...The old Hi-Pro was the best food for the money...imo.

If the the Purina name is on the outside, you can bet the quality will be inside of the sack. Pro Plan Performance is by far the best dog food ever formulated for a competition hound, and i'll agree that the Dog Chow brand is a very good Maint. feed also. Like Cleo, i too have tried about eeverything under the sun, but nothing has stood the test of time as Purina has at my kennels. Try it, and you to will see why its the best. Your hounds will love you for it.
