Different coon feeders

Ok a tire feeder is good in the summer time. I don't care to feed a possum but i don't like feeding the deer. So my question is how can i go with out feeding the deer cause when it is cold the water freezes what other feeder could i use or keep the deer out of it thanks.

I use a 5 gallon bucket with a 1 1/4 male pvc fitiing in the bottom of the bucket and a lid. Works good for me and pretty much the only thing that can get the food out of it is a coon.

If you put yeast in your tire it will make a type of alchohol and wont freeze so easy in the winter times but i also but beer in mine.

5 gallon bucket with a 2 inch hole cut at the bottom works good.

If you don't use a nipple the corn will pour on the ground where anything can get it . You want it so after the corn settles it is out of reach for all but coons. About a three inch long nipple works. I had to switch to galvanized instead of pvc cause the squirels knawed them off over time. Attaching the nipple is easier with pvc , just cut a coupler not quite in half where it won't stop. glue on the stop end on the inside or out , then slide the other over about 3 inch pipe through the hole and glue it up. For galvanized I used a threaded nipple and two thin nuts like for conduit.

how is it for bears at that height..we have bear trouble at our coon feeders.
buckets aren't worth the bother here, bears tear em off the tree an lug them away..an do the same with tires if not tied to a tree..

when we had the feeders on old tree stumps the bear loved them and after we put them up off the ground they just dont mess with them anymore. we had one bear that bit in to one of the holes in the feeder and tore it just a bit but that was it. and we have never got a picture of a possum on one.

water feeder

a buddy of mine discovered this by accident...

went to feeder 1 night with bucket of corn to refill feeder bucket, bears a walked away with another bucket..
there was was still water there about 2 or 3 in deep..being -issed off at bears just dumped the bucket of corn in the still water...to our suprise the bears never touched it..an i mean never..so he tried another spot, same result...mighta bin a fluke but from then on thats what we do till warm weather drys up the still water.
works great , for some reason the bears never found it or they didn't like eating the corn through the water...
any one else ever tried it..
