Easy way to get rid of ticks on your dog

I have heard Ivomec works. If so, how many cc's. Also any homemade remedies or just other medicines. Thanks

ivermectin is not effective against ticks. i know of nothing that works very well on ticks. the python cattle ear tags works the best. they keeps all fleas off, keeps most ticks off and many, but not all of those that get on the dog will die. i cut the tab off and discard it and, wrap the body of the tag around the collar and use two zip ties to hold it on. all my dogs wear them, even the two that sleep in our bed.

cattle tags

I used to use the cattle tags as well they worked pretty for the ticks... I didn't have any luck with the fleas staying away though

i think it might depend on your situation. if you have a bad flea infestation and use the tags, they might not work well. but if you have no fleas and then use them, you probably won't get fleas. it's hard to compare what works for one, in his situation, and what works well for another in a different situation. i use the purple tag. some use other colors and find them satifactory.
i also have used a combination of bayer tree and scrub and pymitherin and had good results.

look for a tick collar with amitraz as the active ingredient. doesn't work for fleas but is specific for ticks.

Ivermece works on anything that sucks blood ... mites , fleas , ticks , etc ... but you do gotta give em' a good sized dose for .. about 1cc every other week and it will keep 90% of em' off.

I kinda of got away from it just because it's an awful stout chemical to keep em' pumped full of.

I'm trying to stay away from over doctoring em' ... I have been using a little frontline spray before hunting and dish soap baths between .

We've gotten too dependant on easy ways and spending money these days ...

Preventic collar, no ticks for up to 3 months, with either frontline or advantix topical monthly.....zero fleas or ticks, That has worked the best for me, and I have tried almost everything. I have 2 dogs with new Seresto collar on, supposed to be waterproof flea, tick prevention for 8 months, 5 months if bathe or swim alot.....my dogs are in the swamps so I am putting it to the test. entirelypets.com or drlongfoster.com I think have the best prices available. Good luck, yeah they are terrible this year. I am using a 11oz can of bug spray a week. Still getting ticks.

I just got a preventic collar, seems to be working well, but I think its a pretty nasty chemical.

I have been spraying bayers 12month home defense on my chaps, and haven't had a tick on me since.

A to Z Vet Supply has a dosage sheet. I have used this and it works. It is about $50 for 3 liters. Ivomec SHEEP drench......not the 1% injectable which would cost a bloody fortune...3cc down the back every two weeks. The Bayer tree and shrub doesn't have an oily agent to make it spread. It doesn't really work. The sheep drench is blue. It works great on ticks and better than Frontline on fleas. For fleas the only thing that truly gets them off is Comfortis. Just make sure if you give Ivomec for heartworm prevention it is 2 weeks apart from Comfortis or it can cause neurological problems.

I tried the collars but they would come off after about a week. I use Trifexis for worms and fleas and frontline or advantix for ticks

Ticks,Flease and Fly's

StockTox, read the label for mixing rather area spray or dipping the dogs. I weed whacked all grass around my kennels then sprayed the area. Mixed up a tub with 50gallon of water and dipped all dogs. Quickly wiped off eyes and faces , put back in kennels to shake and dry off. Tick,Fly and Flea free for three weeks now. Cost of bottle is around $15.00 and done all 7 hounds

I use an insectacide called termidor sc it is the same active ingredient as frontline. I just buy it by the jug and it lasts forever, it seems kinda costly til you think about how many of those little packs you bought of frontline. I also use cattle pour on Ivemect if the dogs get in a bunch of ticks before i get them Dr'd I pour some of the pour on Ivemect down their back and the ticks are dead the next day.
