got a lot of questions about it thinking about buying a dog that had it will it come back whats the chances of a comeback does anybody know help me out

I had one I put down not to long ago. Its horrible what they go through. From what I read not all dogs can get it but, if I read it right they will always be able to get it again and they will not be the dog it was. 2 of my dogs caught a coon in a Calvert pipe. One got it the other didnt

Also known as Acute Polyradiculoneuritis. This is a canine neurological disorder caused by exposure to certain contaminants contained in the feces, saliva, urine and blood of many small animals, such as racoons, possums and skunks.

The 'agent' then sets off an overreaction of the immune system, which leads to paralysis beginning in the back legs and moving forward, eventually leading to heart attacks and pulmonary failure. Some dogs will continue to eat and drink for a while, some will not.

The treatment for this disease is life support until the worst passes, followed by gradually increasing physical therapy. Once infected, the dog will always be at a greatly increased risk of contracting it again, but it can be survived with proper treatment.

seen it, had it in a good dog, vet said caught it early enough, spent lots of $$ had to let him go anyway... It's an ugly thing to watch, If you have one with it I'm sorry to hear it.

My grandson and I lost a dog to it. Bad to watch. I understand most survive but ours didn't. Good luck.

JUST HAD ONE GO THRU THIS IT IS TOUGH TO WATCH.MINE IS LOOKING BETTER EVERY DAY.IT TOOK MINE THREE DAYS TO SHOW FIRST SIGNS FALL DOWN IN THE HIND END THIS WAS 8PM WED BY THURS AT 12 NOON HE COULD NOT WALK BY THAT EVENING ALL HE COULD DO WAS MOVE HIS EYES AND TAIL.HE STAY LIKE THAT FOR ONE WEEK BEFORE I SAW ANY IMPROVEMENTS.THEN IT TOOK FIVE WEEKS BEFORE HE COULD WALK AGIAN.NOW ITS BEEN ABOUT EIGHT WEEKS HE CAN RUN AROUND PRETTY GOOD STILL ALITTLE STIFF IN BACKEND AND TRYS TO LOAD BUT JUST HASNT GOT THE STRENGHT IN HIS BACK LEGS YET.BUT LIKE MR.ROBINSON SAID OTHER THAN ALOT OF DAILY CARE THERE IS NO CURE OR TREATMENT
