Coonhound Bloodlines June 2013 Redbone Issue

Got mine today.

Kelly and Richard,
I enjoyed reading the nice articles about you guys.

I believe the first Coonhound Bloodlines' Special Breed issues were in 1984. If so this would be the 30th year. Who has copies of all 30 years?

Hey Ron,
I would guess that alot of the folks on here don't know that is George Furney the breeder of the Tuttle Creek Redbones for many years on the the 1984 cover.

Thanks Ron and Danny----

had my first coonhound in 1956 and my first "REG." hound in 1963, a Redbone. He had some of the same blood that George had in some of his he got from Roy. I got to know George over the years and had a lot of nice visits with him at ARCA Days. He was a very nice man that took good care of his hounds.

Danny - Well said.....

I too really enjoyed the articles on Richard and Kelly as well as the Legacy Sire Section on Harlod Hoffmeisters Rusty Red and Bo Parkers Reverend Red.

Most folks would find it hard to believe that a "Long Hair" like Richard was/is actually a clean cut, very responsible, good guy!

Kelly, hope we get to walk and talk through the woods for a few nights some time.

Good Luck in the next 30 days at ARD and NRD guys!

Big Mark

Question

Mark,
Are you going to be at American Redbone Days?

Hello Danny!

I have taken on some new responsibilities at work and don't think I will make it....there is a slight possibility I could stop in on Saturday for a few hours but hunting or visiting for any amount of time is out of the question.

I spent enough time turning dogs loose in those tick infested hills several years back.....one does not know just how bad ticks can be until they hit that part of MO!

Hope you are well friend!

Big Mark

Great story on Richard. Really covered what he has done on the breeding side with his dogs and many of the wins they have accumulated..... but didn't tell the story of all the wins "he" has racked up with redbones....
Didn't he do quite a bit of winning with Mr. Woody's Ranger dog a couple of years back and I think there have been a few other dogs that have benefitted from his handling skills as well...surprised it wasn't mentioned......maybe there will be a sequel in next years redbone issue
I also enjoyed the story on Kelly Hyde and it is obvious that he and Richard have both been big contributors to the redbone breed. Keep up the great work guys....the breed wouldn't be the same without you!

My guess is that there wasn't room to print all of King Richards accomplishments. Not many Redbone events go by without seeing a picture of him in the winner's circle.

fun

It was fun working with Laura Bell who did the article. She did a very god job. It was amazing to me how much water has went under the bridge in the last 35 years. I realized how I really haven't kept good track of dogs and wins or taken enough pics . But the important part to me has always been the friends, those I will always remember .I hope people enjoy the story ,it was a high lite for me. ...especially to be in the same issue with the "King" . Thanks to all who have had nice comments and those who have called or Pm'ed. I know I could have mentioned so many more good dogs and great people, I hope no one feels left out. thanks again and good luck to all .

Thanks everyone, I just hate that they left a lot out. That darn Kelly Hyde just took up too much space. There was some about Mr Woody and Ranger. I hunted Ranger for Mr Woody for almost a year, including going to the World. It was a great year and I met a bunch of top quality people that year. You don't know just how much fun it is to run the Purina Race like that until you actually do it yourself. When they asked me to write about a "few" of the hunts that I had been on, I don't think that they were expecting the 10 pages that I sent them.
