whats your opinion

Not to long ago I met a guy who hunted rabbits with a falcon. Not only was it a great experience but I also learned a little about how he trained it. He told me that once they realize they are hunting for their food and they depend on you for that part of the battle is done. This has got me thinking about past coonhounds that I tried breaking off of certain things like opposums. I had one one time that when he caught it on the ground he would have some eaten before I got there. Once I did what comes next he went on. I could never get that dog broke of it. Do you think if a dog likes the taste of the off game it is running you can ever get it broke of it. I feed my dogs deer scrap and never have a problem with them running deer, but if that same dog ran that deer down and liked that taste would you ever completely break that dog of it.

I feed mine a good bit of crappie because they and the wife and kid and I ENJOY it... does that mean my hounds will start diving?

if you read the whole thing you probably wouldn't have posted something so stupid. I feed mine all kinds of scraps. They don't run anything they get fed.

Years back I helped a kid who was getting started with falconry. I helped him "catch" his hawk, spent some time in the yard working with it, and usually provided him transportation and tagged along on some hunts. What a neat experience. Hunting rabbits with a hawk is a blast, but falconry is not a hobby sport... it is a lifestyle. Those birds require some serious care and attention if expected to perform.
