I've mixed cool-aid with shelled corn but last time at home I used sweet feed. All I can say is WOW! Worked better than anything I've tried. All it would take was 36 to 48 hrs and all 5 of my 5 gallon buckets would be gone.

Im fixin to start using popcorn myself. Cause its cheap! I've used the candy, dogfood and old bread and fishfood and deer food. All in all the dog food has worked as well as anything but can't find it cheap. Im using the dollar store red bag now. The old bread always went to fermenting. Candy had every bear in 5 counties tearing up everything. Deer food they never liked really. Fish food was good but its went sky high to. I did put out a record rack deer block last yr. Hung a cam up. It lasted nearly 4 weeks and had Coon every night. Its 13.99... Im gonna put a couple them out this yr to.

I go out and get me a couple bags of the cheapest 50lb dog feed I can find and put it in my buckets. Once they find it they eat it all in a few days. It's the best thing I used so far have tried soured corn , horse and mule feed , and candy.

Stay with dog food. Much healthier for your coons. Popcorn may be cheap, but is it really? You can fill a bucket up with popcorn but you still do not have anything. Just pick the bucket up, yeah it may be full, but feel how light it is. You have more air in the bucket than you do popcorn.
I bet two healthy, hungry boar coons could empty a 5 gallon bucket of popcorn in a few in hours in one night! They wont empty a 5 gallon bucket of dog food in one night!
Literally, the cheapest dog food I have found around here, including a few feed stores, is the 50lb, $20 red bag of Ol Roy and the coons love it. I have found some for around $17 at the feed store but it was only 40lbs. I had to dump some Dollar General dog food out because the coons would not touch it.

Sour Corn seems to do the trick, and it's cheap! Coons will eat about anything, the key is bringing them in, and the smell of sour corn can be smelt along ways off.

i work part time at a big box grocery store as a stocker besides my regular job and if u get a bag of feed off the bottom of the stack i guarantee you will find some out of date feed. take it up front and they will usually let u have it at half price on rare occasions iv got it a dollar a bag. and its fine for coon feeders and i know that's not what this post is about but it might save y'all a few bucks

here is a feeder trick buy moultrie all in one feeder it is digital so you can set it mount it on bottom of a bucket or drum take a 2 ft long peice of 10 inch culvert pipe block one end of pipe off with a round peice of wood, then drill a 1 1/2 in hole in pipe close to bottom, take 3 small L brackets and mount peice of pipe to bottom of drum over top of moultrie feeder, set feeder to go off at say 8:30 for 2 seconds it will sling about a good handfull of dog food out in that 2 seconds but be contained by the pipe and fall down coons reach right in just like a feeder bucket , 5 gallon bucket of feed will last around 4 weeks and coons are fed the same timne every night no feeding at wee hours of the morning
