Garmins.

Not in a Nite Hunt. But they ARE ALLOWED in a HTX Hunt. Not sure about the Alpha since it has a shocker for HTX.

I'm not 100 percent sure. But it think the rule is you can have them but have to be left in the truck. Can't be on you even if they're off.

You can carry a regular Garmin on you but it has to be off. In pkc you can carry alpha but not it Ukc even if it is off.

Out of curiosity why cant you carry it if its off? You can use it on time outs but by then your usually a 1/2 mile from the truck, so lets trudge back there to find out the dog was and still is only 200 yds from where u were standing? Wonderful rule

The handheld of a Garmin Alpha may not be carried during hunt time because it also has controlling capabilities. The Alpha may however be used during a time out period.

Jerry

Yes it does Jerry.. Not sure what they was thinking in this ruling. It shouldn't be on during huntin time anyhow. Just like the astro or a beep beep tracker. Seth

Because, training (shock) collars cannot be used during time outs Only after hunt or if dog is scratched and ALL other dogs have been recovered. Alpha MUST be left in truck. I'd be willing to bet there will be some kind of rule change or Garmin will make another update JUST IN TIME TO BUY A NEW ONE AT AO. LOL! I'll bet on the Rule change this year at AO. Rule changes will be voted on this year.

I bet it will be changed at AO too but if it is, it won't be in effect until 1-1-2014.

Rule change

I bought Alpha without knowing rule, BUT it will definitely be brought up for change at AO. No reason for not being able to carry it in woods, when it's shut off.

Allen, PLEASE BURN the new entry slips that ya can't get apart & go back to the ones that are split in the middle. Take care, Ron.

i thought transmitters for electronic training collars could only be brought out during a time out, and after all other dogs are recovered and the dog wearing said devise is scratched????

so is the alpha not considered a transmitter for electronic training collars???

The Alpha can be used during timeout to find your dog however if you use the e-collar feature, your azz is grazz and Allen is the lawnmower.

I never really understood it. Aside from using an e-collar, the rules allow you to do or use ANYTHING during timeout to retrieve your dog. Not only can YOU do anything, ANYONE can do anything. To my knowledge, there is nothing that you or anyone can't do or use EXCEPT for using the e-collar. So, I wonder why they picked that one single thing and said, no, you can't do that. But everything else imaginable is ok.

It's not a court of law, proof isn't required.
If I say you used it and they believe me instead of you.......get out the lawnmower.

Yet another one of UKC's open to interpretation, no clear statement, MOH goes with the judge's call because he wasn't there, it's been beat to death in the advisor and still no one gets it rules.

I can't wait for someone to get accused of using it in a hunt.

Time out called you have an hour to get your dogs and meet back at the truck. JiM goes thataway to get his dog and I go thisaway to get mine. all the sudden my dog hits a hot wire and yelps and comes in. meanwhile JiM can not catch his dog until 70 minutes later. so he gets to the truck and says well looks like you are scratched for shocking your dog I heard him yelp! vote and the other guy sides with JiM because he will now be hunting alone. ? on the card. back to the clubhouse and I am scratched and barred.

UKC DO NOT OPEN THIS CAN OF WORMS!!! No alphas on night hunts

I kinda figured this wouldn't have to be voted on to change. You know just like the using of Garmins wouldn't. Did Allen not say that here while back??
