ANYBODY HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SYMTOMS/TREATMENT?I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD THAT CAUGHT A COON ON THE GROUND SAT NIGHT AND NOW HE IS FALLING DOWN IN THE BACK END.WALKED HIM ON LEAD AND HE WOULD WALK FINE AND THEN JUST FALL ON HIS FACE.STANDS THERE WAGING HIS TAIL EATING AND DRINKING FINE GOOD STOOLS.

Sorry to say I have had two go down from that. It was from the same coon too. At that time there was no cure. They just got weaker and weaker. Had them on meds..spoon fed them.. could not take it anymore and put them to sleep. Could be lymes also, they act the same in early stages, get him to the vet as soon as you can friend !!

Mine did the same thing. Vets didn't know much about paralysis then. He died 4 days later.

Had a male walker that I was hunting for a friend a couple of years ago. He came down with it, and it took about 3-4 weeks of constant care to get him over it the first time he got it. Then he got bit again later that fall and had to put him down. If they get it bad enough, you have to turn them over several times a day. I kept him in deep straw in my barn so he did'nt get sores. It's a hard job taking care of them.

I had a beagle one time that got out during the summer time. When he came back he was covered in ticks he became paralyzed fromt the ticks. he would just lay on his side and bark. But He would take water and food laying on his side. I pulled all the ticks off him the he got maggots in his back where all the ticks had been pulled off from the flies blowing it. I sprayed that purple stuff on him that you spray on cattle for screw worms. Anyhow the ticks paralyzed him. I have heard that it can be cause by just one tick so look the dog over and get all the ticks off.
I got lyme disease myself from ticks. dont do like I did growing up and think get bit by ticks is no big deal it is. Its a very serious deal.

You need to get into a good vet. The dog will need to be on steroids and an antiinflammatory. He needs a VERY high protein diet, if you can get a beaver carcass for him to eat would be good also. I had a good dog get it and recovered fairly well, best act before its to late though!

I Had one go down two days before thanksgiving and I had to flip her over on each side twice a day because I heard if they laid on one side to long their lungs would collapse. Mine was like yours still could eat and drink but couldn't move,I give mine ibeprophine for the inflamitaon and I was giving ensure with the dog food in the evenings and would give just a raw egg and ensure in the morning. It took mine 4 months to get up and I took mine to the vet and they looked for ticks and couldn't find any and they told me that it would just take time. Also I had to do physical theropy so the joints wouldn't stiffen up. It's ruff but I think it was worth it but I don't really want to ever do it again good luck and if you have any questions you can call me 865-803-1619

My Dad had a female that got it, took her 7 weeks to recover, it was very hard to take care of her, that was about a yr. ago and she got it again in Feb. and died with it within 2 days the last time. What's weird about it is she died the same day my Dad passed away...........good luck.......Tim

I had a four month old walker male pup that found a dead coon while on a day time walk. I just let play with it awhile thinking that was good. two days later he was laying in the yard couldnt stand or anything. took him to the vet. they were confused but keep him on an IV with meds. a couple weeks later and alot of money he was back to normal. now two yrs. old will flat tree a coon.
