well i hope we dont go to ohio. if we do there's gona be a bunch of people that go early thats gona be sittin on their but with no place to hunt !!

last time we was at ohio they had to get the wrestling team to guide & them boys didnt have a clue about coon hunting. i had 1 guide guiding 2 cast. i seen cast hunting with other cast sittin on the side of the road waiting for that cast to leave so they could hunt the same place.

I'M GONA SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME. IF WE GO TO OHIO THERE IS GOING TO BE A BUNCH OF US THAT GO EARLY THATS GONA BE SITIN ON OUR BUT WITH NO PLACE TO HUNT !!! & I AINT EVEN GOIN INTO ALL THE MAIN ROADS ALL OVER THE PLACE !!

I'D LIKE TO SEE WHAT OHIO'S BID IS. I KNOW THE ASSOC PAYED OUT THE AZZ LAST TIME IT WAS THERE.

NOW PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT I'M TELLIN YA. IT DONT MAKE NO DIFFERENCE TO ME. ITS ABOUT THE SAME FOR ME DRIVING OHIO OR FLORA & I KNOW SOME WANT TO CHANGE FROM FLORA. WE'V BEEN AT FLORA LONG ENOUGH I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE IF YOU COME EARLY SOMEBODY CAN TAKE YOU HUNTING !! ALOT OF GUYS HAVE THEIR OWN PLACES THEY HUNT EVERY YEAR.

SO WHEN THEY TELL YOU WE'R GOING TO OHIO & YOUR SITTIN ON YOUR BUT WISHIN YOU COULD GO HUNTIN & YOU CANT, DONT FORGET I TOLD YOU SO. BEEN THERE DONE THAT !!!!!!!!!

Jim , I've seen pictures of Ohio ........IT'S AWESOME !

Super clean , several motels right there close too . At least 10 guides will be there early to take people hunting . Over 600 camping sites . EM on site too . Walmart ,tractor supply and no TRACK MAN HUNT before B&T days , other words shouldn't be hunted to death brfore we get there . I " THINK " I was told they could supply up to 150 guides each night . Again , I've seen several pictures of Ohio site ......... TOP NOTCH !!!!

Don't hold me too it but " I BELIEVE ITS FREE " !!!!!!!!!!!

IT IS ALSO WHERE THE OHIO STATE FAIR IS HELD (TRACTOR PULL)

John , I have no problem with the people of Flora , they're great even the towns people too . But when we pull into a patch of woods , others were pulling out , then we leave more pulling in . Few years while back , didn't see a coon until sat night until we turn into the charlie brown park . Last year seen 2 coons all week . Again I do appreicate the HARD WORK any club/members do .
Believe me I know what you talking about . One year I did the MOH on friday night at B&T days . Then helped Hayward Ivery do his on saturday night till sunday morning then drive 14 hrs home .

Then at our local club at the Hound Dog Classic had a 2 night hunt . I did the MOH both nights , lend my truck out , put 4 cast in the woods each night , slept on the kitchen table friday night for a hour , then back at it again all day saturday . LOL

HEY CHARLES

thats what i'm talkin about. they said they have at least 10 guides for people that come early. we hunt right at 300 dogs thursday & friday not including the pleasure hunters. half these people come early. 10 guides is what i'm talkin about. you got a bunch of people that aint going to get to hunt. & i can guarantee you those 10 guides will already have people lined up to take them hunting before anybody ever gets to b&t days if its in ohio.

i'd like the nice facilities to but i go early to hunt with freinds & other peoples dogs. i can sit & swop lie's all day long but i want to hunt at night.

i'm tellin ya if its in ohio theres gona be a bunch of people pissed off sittin at their camp or in their motel room with no place to hunt.

So let me get this straight jim, When your sitting at flora a week early guides do laps around the fair grounds waiting for you to tell them your ready to go hunting? Why could you not have someone set up in ohio mich or Indiana to take you hunting the week prior to bnt days? You would have a whole year to work on it? just like any one else coming early could do.

Larry, the general membership has nothing to do with accepting or rejecting where B & T Days is at the next year. It's done by the Vice Pres and his committee.

A far as hunting the week before I know you guys love to do that but like Nick said, Find someone in the area and line them up for B & T Days. You have a full year and we all have buddies all over the country shouldn't be that hard.
Besides its all about the family and getting to gether and having a good time weather were hunting or not right.
I'm sure it will work out for everybody. Lets get through this year 1st and have FUN!!!

YES BUT does that choice made by the committe not have to be aproved by the membership.

has it not in the past been a practice for that committe to be made up by board members.and i do know that it,s not a law.

Jim you won't here me complain about it being in Flora Il., or Ohio or anywhere else they hold this hunt. You have done a lot to better your dogs and the breed which is your goal and the goal of the Association. It is the Constitution and By-Laws of the Assoc. to work collectively towards the betterment of the American Black and Tan Coonhound to influence the breeding of a better and finer BNT coonhound.
Now if it moves to Ohio I see that as a positive for the breed collectively as it could give some the opportunity to attend BNT Days that can't take the time or afford to go to Ill. because of the distance. I've also seen where some said they would like to see it held in one of the southern states. I talked to a long time BNT Man about this and He told me that they had it the south once in N.C.. For himself he would prefer it stay in a northern Midwest State where there is rolling hills to flat ground hunting with plenty of coons. So 300 dogs a night would have the opportunity to tree 3 to 5 coons a night not just a few. He told me that the faculties in N.C. were nice but he didn't like seeing dogs laying around sick from snake bites. Now if it moved south I wouldn't complain though I don't know that I would be real excited about my dog being snake bit or gator bait. Maybe I just wouldn't go that year but I am sure it would open the door for some to make it that can't afford to make the trip north every year. Which could be a good thing for the betterment of the breed. Now I have enjoyed every BNT days I have been to even the ones in Mo. where people complained there wasn't coon. We still treed at least 2 coon on each cast. But man were the seed ticks thick. lol
Nick no there are not guides running all around the grounds wanting to take you to the woods at Flora. You have to look for them and even maybe have it lined up before you go. I remember 1 yr. we couldn't find a guide and sat around the grounds till midnight. We finally got a # to call at about midnight and the guy gave us another # to call and that guy told us where to go hunt. The guy that told us where to hunt wasn't even from Ill. but one of the southern States. We treed some coons and still had fun. Yes in Flora I also had a guy that said he would take us and it would cost us a fee. I didn't have a problem with that and don't think any one else would either.
Now Jim I know you enjoy Flora and don't have no problem with you or that. Yes it does sound as if it makes a difference to you and your already complaining about Ohio before it is even announced where it will beheld in 2014. If it is in Ohio I hope all the guides out there read this and let you set and don't guide you so that you won't be disappointed in your prediction. rofl

Good Luck where ever it is at!!!!

my main concern is we the assoc will get back to the old ways of paying out the ying yang for fair grounds to hold b&t days when we dont have to. i'm afraid if we pull out of flora we wont be able to get back. the # of dogs at b&t days is higher at flora than its ever been. we'v been there so long alot of our members from different state got their own places to hunt. i'm one of them guys that dont have my own places to hunt & rely on my freinds to take me hunting at flora.

i have hunted ohio quit a bit & your right there is a bunch of coons but there is also a bunch of roads. david & me will have no problem finding all the hunting ground we want because the large amish comunitys in ohio. its not me i'm concerned about.

i'm going to b&t days where ever its at & going to have a good time. i dont think i'm complaning about ohio. i just aint forgot what i'v seen from years past.

I would bet a large number of cast at A.O. are hunted in Ohio! I know I guide every year in Ohio!! How many times do you hear of roads being a problem?

Ron I will agree that Waverly, Iowa had a poor turn out. For me Waverly was to far north to draw the crowd. Southern Iowa or even Northern Mo. would have been better, it would have cut about 3 to 4 hrs off a rode trip for the people coming from the south and they have flatter ground down there to.lol

i have hunted ohio quit a bit & your right there is a bunch of coons but there is also a bunch of roads. david & me will have no problem finding all the hunting ground we want because the large amish comunitys in ohio. its not me i'm concerned about.

i'm going to b&t days where ever its at & going to have a good time. i dont think i'm complaning about ohio. i just aint forgot what i'v seen from years past.

Jim I would think those days of paying out the ying yang for fairgrounds should be over with. Communities and businesses in the community are seeing the financial impact of these big hunts. They are willing to donate funds so the fairgrounds can be paid for by the community to draw in these big crowds. The bigger city fairgrounds maybe not but the smaller communities this is a win win for them just on the financial impact for 1 week. Motels, fuel stations, restaurants, retail and even the nick nack shops see financial gains.

It dont matter to me where its at, but last time it was in Ohio a few people got nailed for trespassing. 200 buck`s. During the hunt. Are the laws different in IL compared to Ohio? Just curious.

I love B&T Days no matter where it is.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Flora and the hunting with Jim Robert and David couldn't be finer. We always have a great time. I have some great friends like Ed Harrell that gives me places to hunt with friends. Gary Sessions is another that is great to hunt with there. They have coons and more coons. You can't go wrong having it there but you have to have something to compare it too so you will know how good Flora really is. I drive 8 hours to get there but don't mind at all because I know that when I arrive I will be hunting each and every nite with some great friends. You too Maggart. I have been ask for money before and from that day forward I will never hunt with him again. I also know about driving into your spot and having some of the guys I hunted with the nite before driving out. To each his own I always have a great time.

I will also have a good time if it is held in Ohio. I will beat the brush until I find a few spots to hunt and Jim David and Robert come along we will get it done in fine fashion. I know an Amish man in Ohio he will know some one that will take us hunting each and every nite. I know this is long but just read and bare with me.
