Nite hunt score card Help!

Alright so most of y'all know I'm new to coon hunting so I need a little advice and help, anyway! I called ukc the other day and they sent me three score cards so I can practice filling it out and reading the rules and what not. And so when I'm hunting with friends I can pretend its a real ukc hunt but the question is, why are there 3 rows of seven boxes on "strike" and "tree" I'm a little confused by it so any help would be amazing! Thanks!!

Most people I know use the center and right hand columns as continuations of a turnout in case a dog gets minused or happens to tree and then is re-casted to the other dogs.

Each row across for Numerous drops...next one down is the next drop

Numerous turn outs on the same drop can go in the same row but next box...

If I am understanding your question right...

You most very likely won't have to judge your first cast so don't sweat it....when you go spectate ask questions after the drop...

I've been in a bunch of hunts...I've only ever had to judge 1 I think...

I'm only 15 so I doubt I will be judging anytime soon! It was just confusing me on the way it works. Does the Jude full out scoring system?

There are 3 row of strike & 3 rows of tree. Lets say your dog gets 1st strike and your buddys dog gets second and you other buddy's dog gets third strike. Now lets assume your dog quits the track and comes in. He gets minused 100 points. But the other two dogs continue to work this same track. Now your dog goes back in and starts wotking again with these same two dogs. You now have to strike your dog back in. He will now strike in for 25 points since he cannot strike in over a dog that is already on the card on that drop. When you strike him back, in those point get documented on the next horizontal box to the right of the initial scoreing box. It works the same way in the tree column. Lets say you tree your dog 1st, one of the other two dogs cover yours and is declared treed at that same tree. While running the 5 minutes on the tree your dog leaves this tree and begins to track again. You now must minus your tree points. Now lets say your dog goes back to this tree and begins treeing again. He will now go back in for 50 tree points as he cannot tree in over another dog that has been declared treed. Those 50 tree point will be recorded on the next (horizontal) box to the right of the initial score.

If I'm not explaining this clear enough, please feel free to call me at 740-504-4897 and I'll be happy to explain it further.

You explained it perfectly! Thank you! So when someone says a dog got minus strike points does that mean that all of his dogs strike points are gone until he strikes again?

If a dog is treed and say he moves . Then minus that dog and when he re(trees) him again then go to the box to the right not on line 2 .

That away you'll know what the dog does on each line . In other words if a dog is minus for quitting a track or leaving a tree , then minus him but when he re-strikes or re-trees him then go to the box to the right , keeping it on the same line .

No the other dogs strike stays alive intill they quit, tree, or hole you and your dog are responsable for his strike and tree pluse or minus. Let's say dogs A,B,C,and D strike in that order. Dog C trees first then B, and D but dog a goes on. Dogs B,C, and D have a coon their score would be dog C 50+strike125+tree 175+ total dog B 75+strike 75+tree 150+ total dog C 25+strike 50+tree 75+ total. Now if dog A quits it gets 100-. But let's say dog A is stil trailing dogs B,C, and D are turned back in on track they all open at this point dogs B,C, and D go in for 25 these points go to the right of the the oraginal strike. The dogs tree A,B,C then D dog A goes in the first box in the tree colum of the card dogs B,C, and D go to the right of the oraginal tree points. Now the score is dog A 100+strike 125+tree 225+total dog B 25+strike 75+tree 250+total dogC 25+strike 50+tree 250+total dog D 25+strke 25+tree 125+total. At this point dog C is winning the cast because of the most pluse tree points.

The dog loses the strike points he has ON THAT TURNOUT. If he previously has plus points, he won't exactly lose those. You will have a total score at the end of the hunt.

Let's say that on the first turnout that you had 1st strike and 1st tree..both plus for a score of 225+. However, on the second turnout...which happens to be the last one of the night that you had 1st strike but your dog quit and came in or failed to bark again and was minused for 100-. You would have a score of 225+ and 100- for a total of 125+.
I hope this cleared it up for you a bit.

You have 7 rows because there is an outside chance you will make a bunch of short turnouts. A bunch of feeders could give you that chance if you treed them quickly, scored them and called a timeout and moved each time. The possibility used to higher when all the hunts were 3 hours.

It seems, everyone talks about the old 3 hour hunrs!!!!
When UKC set up the system, the hunts were 4 hours; and as a SIDE NOTE!! back then people were hunting real coon dogs. I venture to say= THERE IS PROBABLY AROUND 90% more SLICK treeing today than there was in the '60's; and today cold trailing is becoming a thing of the past.

I may be wrong, but I don't think UKC ever had 4 hr hunts. There was a hunt club years ago that had 4 hr. hunts but it wasn't UKC. I've hunted UKC hunts since 1965 and they were 3 hr. then.
