The one big downside to collecting, chilling, shipping and then trying to freeze is that each cell has X amount of energy stored in the cell. The longer it goes unfrozen the more of the lifespan of the cell is used up. If you are going to attempt this. I highly recommend doing a counter test post thaw. The semen could very well freeze and thaw....but how long will it stay alive is the key. Dean and I are both accredited through Camelot Farms. There is also ICSB, MiniTube and Clone. All are working on extenders that will enable thawed semen to stay alive for up to 48 hours. I think the experiment you want to do is worthy...but treat it as an experiment and use it to gain knowledge via the countertesting. I have countertesting most of the top extenders and there are some I love and and I hate. Most all freezing extenders are only sold to a person who is accredited by their program. So unfortunately you can't just call up and order extender. I will be interested to hear how your test turns out.
