Buckets for Everyone??

Anyone out there that don't hunt buckets? Seems like every hound hunter I know locally claims to have a number of them to hunt. I see one once in awhile while walking a creek but rarely if ever have I seen one with feed in it.

They are awfully hard to keep up with. Plus if you don't own the property it will tick off the landowner if he catches you baiting coons.

I put a few feeder tires out at a few of my spots last year. Hung them 5 or 6 feet up on limbs an put corn and cherry koolaid in them and they worked fantastic for attracting coons.

I'm not a fan of them but they could be good to throw a young hound every once in a while.

Whenever you see a high score in a big hunt you can bet 1 of 2 things happened. The cast got down to 1 or 2 dogs with alot of time left or the MOST likely case was feeders were used.

I have seen a couple of the tires before. Around here they're so many deerhunters feeding I'm sure a lot of what's treed are struck in relation to them.

No feeders for me...

Never saw the use....and coon get smart to being ran off feeders quick...

I've put up 800-1000 points more than once during a nite hunt and wasn't hunting over feeders..not super high scores but high enough..

Hunting the pine plantations like I have to feeders more than double the carrying capacity of the area. Good tracks are often easier to find with no feeder because the coon may hunt for hours to fill his belly. Feeder coon may feed for a few minutes once a day or less. They also get smart very quick if you kill off a feeder.

NO BUCKETS ! It may take longer to get a pup going in thin coon but I take my time and try to do without buckets, coons in cages, hides hanging over their heads, try to let it come natural and not forced. Seems that (I) get better results in the long run.
