Purina Nationals Open Slam 4/6/13 - Flora, IL

Just a quick reminder that there will be a $30 open Slam Event at the Purina Nationals this Saturday, April 6 at Flora Coon Club in Flora, IL. Deadline to enter is 7 PM local time.

I think everyone will really enjoy the Purina Nationals this year. at 11 AM on Saturday there will be the Bench Show and it looks like this is going to be a good show. At 2:30 PM we are having the Purina Awards Ceremony. You do not want to miss this. I think everyone is going to enjoy it very much. 6 PM will be the deadline to confirm entries for the Purina National Championship and 7 PM will be the entry deadline for the $30 Slam Event hosted by the Flora Coon Club.

I also heard Big Vern's been getting the grill ready and there will be plenty of food including the world-famous tenderloin sandwiches and even a fried chicken plate-lunch on Saturday. Hope to see you all in Flora this weekend!

Payouts are up to the host club, UKC has nothing to do with how the money pays back other than all cast winners get their entry fee back. The ones I have hunted paid 30% to the clubs, the rest to the dogs. So say a $30 entry event draws 30 dogs, that's $900 x .70% paid back=$630. 4 cast winners that don't make the final four @$30 per=$120 to cast winners, that leaves $510 for the final four. If they split, that would be a $127.50 split.

Yes and yes.
The National is down to not too many dogs by Saturday so they run a Slam Event just to have a better turnout for the whole event. Same thing as Saturday night at the World Finals. Slams award a first place for all reg dog in Final Four and a win toward Grand for all NtChs in the Final Four.

Jim, almost but not quite.

Dogs actually hunt on both nights unless they scratch. If scratched they are done. Just like the Zone part of the World Championship.

The Final Four is determined by double cast winners first followed by single high scores.

Slam payouts amount to 55% of the entry fee going back to the hunters.
