I have carried my camcorder on lots of casts in coon, squirrel, and beagles hunts in several kennel club hunts. The only cast I was denied to carry a camcorder on was a PKC Semi-final hunt in their PKC World Squirrel Hunt. After being on the cast a few minutes, I could see why the handler that complained didn't want video evidence. For 1 reason, I had previously video taped what was supposed to be the same dog and the dogs would not have matched. There were other things the handler didn't want a disipline committee to see.
As for UKC Hunts, I made a deal with Todd Kellam that I would never use anything I taped as evidence or proof of anything in the cast. And, I never have even though I have got some stuff you would have to see to believe. I always ask the cast members if they care if I record the hunt. Almost everyone agrees. I have been recording casts for lots of years.
We don't have a problem with anyone recording the casts if the cast agrees. You cannot, however, use the video as proof to a Master of Hounds when something is in dispute.
