Can anyone confirm the following:

I was told by a bench judge that your dog no longer has to have competition on the bench to obtain a win for its champion...

The rule book states that the dog will recieve points but will not take the win for its champion....

No you don't have to have competition to make your dog show champion just 100 points

That is 4 a dog 2 make ch.it must have comp with 100 points. One a ch it don't have to have comp.

in order to go from a Registered class to a Champion class you MUST have competition in either class, breed or show AND 100 total points.

*see pg 54 of the rulebook:
now, for the Top Ten points, the BMOS & BFOS will get 1 point for every dog defeated (not counting yours) in the registered classes, 2 points in the champion classes and 4 points in the grand classes WITH competition.

if there is NO competition, for Top Ten only, grand get 2 points per dog defeated.


but to clarify what I think you are asking "do you have to have competition to make a dog a champion on the bench?" the answer is YES. whether that competition be in the class (puppy, jr, sr), breed, or for BMOS/BFOS. there has to be competition and a total of 100 pts.

**see pg 49 of the rule book:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SHOW CHAMPION:
Dog must have earned a minimum of 100 UKC recorded
Championship points and one win for “Best Male of
Show” or “Best Female of Show”. Dog must have
competition at the Class, Breed or Show level at the
event they win Best of Show. Dog having no competi-
tion will receive Championship points but no win
toward the Show Champion degree. Points must be
earned under at least two different Judges

I have heard from 3 differnt people in the last two weeks, that you didn't have to have competition. So I just read the rules posted by UKC on here. They do state that you still have to have competition. So where is this coming from. Allen/UKC could you please post a statement on this.

UKC® Point System for the
Top Ten Bench Show Dogs
Revised January 1, 2003
UKC will tabulate and publish the Top Ten
rankings. The rankings will be published
in COONHOUND BLOODLINES and on
www.ukcdogs.com on a regular basis.
The point system is based on the number of dogs
defeated and the number of dogs shown as reported
on the Official Bench Show Report. One point will be
deducted from the total of dogs shown in the regular
classes as the winning dog is included in that total but
did not defeat itself.
(1) The winner of the Best Male of Show will be
awarded one point for all males defeated in the classes.
(2) The winner of the Best Female of Show will be
awarded one point for all females defeated in the
classes.
(3) The winner of the Champions of Champion
Male category will be awarded three points for all
males defeated in the Champion class.
(4) The winner of the Champions of Champion
Female category will be awarded three points for all
females defeated in the Champion class.
(5) The winner of the Grand Champion Male category
will be awarded four points for all males defeated
in the Grand Champion class. Two (2) points will

Cynthia correct. You have to have 100 points and Best Male of Best Female of Show with competition in order to make Champion.

UKC changed the forms. The judge does not have to mark it on you win slips, so some people think you dont have to have competition. UKC office can tell if you had competition or not when the forms are sent in, because it is marks in the the top right corner. YOU STILL HAVE TO HAVE COMPTITIONS.

Question, so if you win Best....in Show and beat say 10 dogs, do you get 10 extra points? One point for every dog you beat? Did I read that correctly?
