Antibotics !! for Dogs

This is a really good deal !! Enrofloxacin (Baytril)

This is a RX Item when used for Canines but Not for Fish ..??..

Remember to Use a Mg. Scale for dosages and Weigh your dog Before Dosing .. Digital Mg. Scales are avb. on Ebay and they are very small but very accurate..

Enrofloxacin is given once per day with dosages between 2.5 mg thru 10 mg per Kg (2.3 pounds) "Depending on the Severity of the Infection"

Very good on UT Infections, Parvo Treatment and other GI and respitory Infections as well as Skin Infections..

***** Enrofloxacin has been associated with articular cartilage damage in rapidly growing dogs 2–8 mo old and should be discontinued if joint pain or swelling develops.

I got my Dosage off the MerckVet Manual on line
So Dosages could be much higher per KG .. But I have used it at 8 mg per pound for a Hound that got cought in a Barbwire Fence last week ..

BaytrilÒ is available in three different tablet strengths and as injectable solution. This allows the veterinarian to start treatment with an injection and dispense Baytril tablets to the pet owner for follow-up treatment at home.

In general Baytril is given to cats and dogs at 5 mg/kg b.w. once daily for 5 – 10 consecutive days.

Recent findings suggest that once daily application of the total daily dose maximises the success of Baytril therapy.
This regimen also offers more convenience to the animal owner and significantly increases therapeutic compliance.

Summary: US Baytril Formulations

Baytril is available as BaytrilÒ Taste TabsTM in different strenghts with flavouring enhancement, and as coated tablets without flavour. An injectable solution is also available. BaytrilÒ Otic is a combination of enrofloxacin and silver sulfadiazine registered for the treatment of canine otitis externa complicated by bacterial and fungal organisms.

Baytril tablets are given to dogs at a dose of 5 – 20 mg/kg b.w., preferably once daily. This gives the veterinarian the possibility to adapt the therapeutic dose within this range to the severity of the disease and susceptibility of the pathogen.
In cats BaytrilÒ tablets are dosed at 5 mg/kg b.w., preferably once daily.

Duration of treatment in dogs and cats should be based on clinical evidence. In general administration of Baytril tablets should continue for at least 2 – 3 days beyond cessation of clinical signs. For severe and complicated infections, more extended intervals of treatment (up to 30 days) may be necessary.

Thru High School I worked for a Vet in Northern Virginia ... From the very first day of work He allowed me to "Help" in the OR .. Self Taught on Canine Reproduction, Semen Collection and Freezing . Several hundred hours of reading papers and testing my ablities and different Freezing processes ..

Edication IS FREE and you can usually do a much better Job yourself once you set your mind to it !!

Truth in that...I know a lotta young kids around here are instant knoweledge pros from u tube or internet searches and aswer a question in seconds or minutes from a I phone search.

One thing thou !!!! You have to Double Check Everything !! don't believe the first thing you read .. Cross Search Everything then build your own Conclusion from the data ... When I'm researching something I put a Folder on my Desktop then start Coping data and Papers off the net and put it all into that study folder .. Heres the Big thing once you have that folder Full you Search that Folder in its entirity at one time for what your looking for !!!

Man what a Tool !!!!!
