Spanky was way before my time. I'm surprised you haven't gotten any responses. My suggestion would be to search for 'Sparetime Spanky" in the search option, and read some old threads.

alot of people said Spanky was lazy when he hunted, but man could he tree coon! He wasent the kind of dog to punch a whole in the dark, but he would get going and tree every coon that the dog that punched a whole through the dark missed.

Spanky Lazy

I think I've heard that desciption about some dogs that are heavy line breed on him also but the ones I have hunted with do just as you said Iron Creek they will tree every coon them shoot threw the dark models run by and do it in style.

I hunt to tree coons not to get in shape if i wanted that I'd buy a gym membership y walk 1000yds to a dog and see 3 or 4 coon layed up when you can hunt one of them LAZY MODELS that will tree em all.

Back in the 90's, I had a grandson to Sparetime Spanky, out of Mad-Dog Spanky. He was a large dark good-lookin' dog that was all coondog. A treedog second to none. He was definently not lazy, and would cover as much distance as was needed. Sometimes almost too far. Easily made him a Grand Nite Champion, and won quit a few larger hunts with him.
His daughters and sons made excellent nite hunt, pleasure, and big game dogs. Now his grand pups are continuing to do the same, especially the ones that were line breed back, cousins to cousins.
I have now bought a pup from Dave, out of Hammmer XIII and a granddaughter to Spanky. I wanted to go back to 'the well'. I have high hopes for this pup. He is only 4 months old, but seems to show lots of potential. Time will tell. I want to breed him back to the great granddaughters of my old dog.

Spanky

CH GR NT CH PR Mad Dog Banging Blue Spanky was a direct son of ole Sparetime Spanky. Mad Dog Spanky was an extremely hard hunting hound that did not leave coon setting up, he was tight on the ground and the loudest treedog that I have ever been to the woods with. He had no reverse and would get treed somewhere and would hold any amount of pressure that you could put on him. He was hunted in a lot of Big hunts in the early 90s and did his fair share of winning. He was impressive! Mad Dog Spanky went sterile at 4 1/2, sired 128 pups 3 GR NTs and 6 NT CHs, if there would have been a Top Ten Reproducers list back then he would have been close to the top. We still carry a lot of Spank's blood in the dogs that we hunt today..........Tim
