Where do you see coonhunting in 10 years

I was reading some of the articles out with the anmial rights people and the article Terry Walker wrote about Procter & Gamble and the Humane Society teaming up and trying to put a stop to hunting with dogs. Where so you see our sport of coonhunting going in the 10 years.

The way things are building up where I live destroying more hunting land everyday it seems, I can't even bear to look 10 years down the road. It is just too painful.

10 years from now???

folks breedin' for dogs that DON'T hunt wide, because land holdings will be much smaller..................the hand writing is on the wall ya'all...............subdivisions goin' up everywhere, urban expansion, timber companies cuttin' their land, and then, instead of re-planting, selling the land to subdividers...........families not able to afford the taxes to hold on to the family farm and doin' the same.......................lack of huntin' territory will be an issue.............thank God I live waaay out in the country.

Will have to get dogs that will tree on Blackjacks. Only kind of trees left in this country. Might even start a kennel called Blackjack something.

Blackjack Blue Milford.

we even have a resident moose move in bears are coming back
but i don't know how much longer i can continue to pay the taxes over 4500 a year for 52 acres

in 10 years most people will probably need a dog that either jump a road or out run cars. more and more houses and subdivisions going up and with that the number of roads is rising. dogs are getring hit on the highway like they was possums

Batman, I know a good trainer that lives down the road from me, and he can teach a dog just that. I think he goes by the name LABLUES, heck of teacher. He only will accept Blue Dogs from what I heard.

I think we will eventually loose our sport.

Urban expansion, and still hunters will more than likely take our right to hunt with hounds away in most places.

I have noticed that alot of the deer hunters hate us,
and they will soon push to get our sport outlawed.

In ten years I think our sport will be limited to a privledged few,
but most of us will be squeezed out.

Just my honest opinion, and I will enjoy every bit of Coonhunting with hounds, while I still have the freedom to do it!

Looks like it`s fading out here where I live[Palestine, Tx] a few years ago I had 30/40 places to hunt--now I have 3/4 makes for a bad nite sometimes. Our way of life is almost gone. But at my age so am I.

Well the way some people are breeding their hounds, doesn't look like it will be coonhunting, but treehunting instead!

we don't need 2 loose are sport

Yes I agree, we will need to have closer hunting and better trained(obediance ) hounds. The other hunters(deer, bird, and so on) don't need 2 hate us. Take some of those that think we are hurting there sport with you and show them that we are not. If you do this they will understand and you may even aquire a new coon hunting buddy. Most of the hunters I know hunt various things and they understand that we need to stick together as sportsman and fight the antis.
WHEN YOU GIVE UP THEY HAVE WON. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN!!

Corey......I'm more worried about laws restricting free casting and hunting in general than loss of places to hunt. It seems that bleeding heart liberals are caving in to tree huggers and taking away our way of life. If they have their way, 6000 acres of bottomland will be a fishing hole and resorts for rich folks in a few years.

I tried to train a few walkers some time back but they would tree on EVERY tree and not just Blackjacks. They just can't learn to identify leaves like the blue dogs can. haha.

I'm hearing a lot of chatter about a pup you've been hunting. Are you tuning him up for somebody or is he yours?

LABLUES I guess the word travels pretty fast. The new pup is mine, or should I say 1/2 mine and 1/2 the banks. I been trying to come up with a name for him. I think I narrowed it down I pushing for "Jakes Stylish Hibernia" LOL Some people just jack the price way up I can't believe them people.

Lablues= When you get a chance try to find that new feed to give to those blue dogs. I hear it has a lot of additives to boost energy. (B-12, Dex) By the way did you dual GRAND your dog yet.

Dkrause I am in 100% agreement with you.

Corey.....every now and then you'll luck up and find a good, low priced hound but usually you get what you pay for. I take it from the name you said he is out of Jake. Is he local breeding or is he an import?

No, I have one more on Ranger. I gave it a good try Fri. but the rain didn't cooperate. Will you make the Hornbeck hunt this weekend?

Good luck with your young dog. I hope you come up with a good name. How about Heinstein Hussein, Jakes Shingle Son, Where's-He- At Blue?, Grounds 4 Divorce, Lotta Ben Franklins or my favorite Jake the Ripper?????

I can't compete with that. Wait how about "The Hienston Highstepper"

I may go to hornbeck only if they have a Benchshow I may be able to win that.

Going to Bobby Barber's to the PKC hunt that night

We could say he is Internationally Known Through Foriegn Affairs.

In 10 years the woods will be so small that most will switch to cur dogs in order to keep hunting. I switched 8 years ago after having hounds for 24 years. I don't have to have near the woods I did with hounds. Plus them jokers are just as much fun in the day as they are at night.
