Simply out handled

What is the best handler move that tricked you into making a bad call. One where the other handler didn't brake any rules just got in your head. Exsample I was at the KY ST hunt last fall and another handler struck my dog. I was nice about it a simply said thats my dog. Everytime he barked he said rite there thats mine. He's dog opened deeper and they did sound some what alike. Then my dog hit a fence and let out a few war whoops, I said well looks like your dog likes it. So he treed his dog. I said buddy I will prove to you thats my dog when he figures out that fence here shortly and moves on. Sure nuff he got through the fence and moved on. I said now will you let me calll my dog and you stick to yours!! It was a good friendly hunt and he reallized he was calling the wrong dog. Keep it clean guys this is just for fun not a cheater post.

how about a 3 dog cast, just turned loose and a bunch of fire works goes off. one dog jumps in the dog box, 2 other dogs go hunting. judge strikes his dog first, as his dog is tracking he calls for strike call because the judge said there was another dog besides his opening. my dog was the other dog hunting, but i never heard her bark, the judge demanded a strike call, well we knew what dog was in the box so i said it must be mine but it sure don't sound like her, so i strike her. all of a sudden a dog comes running by us from behind. it was my dog so the judge minused my second strike points. i wonder how many times he pulled that stunt with his dog that had two or three different types of track mouth.

.

I will say that Paul Sheffield would be that man. Not because he tricked me but he was just good at what he did and had a good dog on the end of his lead. You had to be looking for the edge to beat him and usually looking for that edge ended up in a mistake on your part.

Lot of Respect for how tuff Paul and his dogs were!!!!

That's called winning! Ways use the rules to benefit you. If you don't that's your fault. I'll beat you every time.

A dog comes treed ...let him know his dogs treed and put 5 on him. Your dog trees you go to tree and see coon or not...don't ask again...cut your dog loose and let him know time on his dog or not. See how far it is and will your dog cover? As soon as your dog locates on that tree tree it, Coons there!!! He either trees too and you go to him or if the time runs out he gets minus! Pressure on!

Not to give away too many tricks bit if a dog is by himself and getting close to Treeing (u can tell) and your dog is closer and bumping on some trees ...pitch him up treed for 125. U will have to go to him first and waist 10 mins of shine time...coon there plus it if not more than likely circle. So what's the worst you can get minus??? His dog by himself (if he trees him will have to hold pressure at least 15 mins now plus walking time), if he leaves he took minus both ways and you cut loose to his dog trailing. Ha ha! You just beat him. Slick handling? No! It's called competition, not let them win! If I go to a hunt I'm there for one reason ... To beat YOU!

I was a youngster tied for first late in a cast one night, with all dogs struck and running a decent track deep in the country. As we made our way closer to the dogs, the old timer I was tied with stops and screams "LISTEN!", and I promptly treed my dog running wide open...

Cory, The pressure got to you LOL been there and still do it, lost a few do to my bad calls and dog looked good, or at least winning the cast instead of just laying back and be cool make some dumb mistake and have other handlers say why did you do that, I say brain fart I guess. good thing dog knows no different or he would have been very upset a time or 2 LOL..

My problem is I always seem to be winning the cast and lay back on the last tree or two. Then go to the club and place where if I wouldn't laid back I would have won the whole hunt. Done that many times.

You're a real piece of work. If dogs are split treed and one is mine I'm going to him and tie him up. Then I'll come back to minus your slick tree. LOL

I can honestly say in all the years and cast i comp hunted....the wins my dogs collected were INSPITE of my handling, and never BECAUSE of it.........if the dog i was leading didnt just dominate the majority of casts it was in, i got a new dog

I seriously doubt that!!! We would have fun on that cast wouldn't we? You might beat me but, in the end you would know me and my dog were there...that for sure. Win some and you loose some. Competition is a game... How well you play that game determines how you win, or loose!

Gotta keep calm and dont fall for traps...

Love the guys that shuffle their feet, cough and snort...talk to anyone that will listen.....no rules saying i gotta stand next to anyone....only rule is judge first one to trees....i usually stand a little ways away....

I dont want my dog to win due to handling....they better win because they are the best dog in the cast....

What ive found out is most people arent honest...most people will do anything to win....i gotta pack twice the dog just to keep up with them....but that is why people gotta come up with crap to win...they are packing a pot licker and their pot licker needs helped to win...

My favorite was 3 dogs on a tree....mine got split but didnt declare her treed yet....i know she will take and hold pressure....she wasnt 200yds away blowing the top out...it was the year they changed the squalling rule.....tree was obviously slick but had a vine on it...no nest, leaves, mess of vines, hole etc....i knew it was getting circled due to 3 dogs on it and mine alone....judge waited the 7 so he could squall....hoping to suck my dog off...yelling, whistling, clapping....i almost told him to just holler her name she still wont come.....10 was up...we circled their slick tree...we went and plussed up the.coon dog....we whopped em....go buy yourself a coon dog...you wont have to sit around and dream up of crap to try to win....

All of these post on this thread is why there is so many crap eating dogs that are titled out that dont deserve to eat dog feed. Thank about that. I would rather have a dog that titled out by its ability than have to go out there and make every excuse for the crap eater you are hunting and cheat everybody in the cast to win. Half the dogs titled out in UKC dont deserve to eat feed. Sounds like me you guys need to start hunting better dogs . Lol.

I guess your dog can strike and tree itself? You ultimately have to make a call. Whether a good one or a bad one. If someone's dog is alittle better than yours or you make a bad call then you have to play catch up and fast. You are up against the clock. it's called competition hunting. You and your dog are a team. In a team sport you work together to overcome each others short coming in order to be victorious over then others to win. Someone's going to win it...why not me!

jerry wayne is slick. don't bobble, slip or slide if your handling against him. he won't cheat and he won't lie. but he knows how to win a cast.
