Feefers Gotta Go In Nite Hunts

Men its time those of us who are serious about our sport step up and do what it takes to get feeders out of our sport . Feeders have there place but they dont belong in hunts . A cast is suppose to be composed of dogs who can hunt and tree there on coon competing against one another ( what if ukc made it mandatory for a dog to have htx in front before they could enter a hunt ) but comp hunting has become a sport of which dog does the best over bait and draws the fewest minuses . I know some of you are goin to use the excuse we need game at hunts and each dog has the same chance . After all arent we (hunting) if a coon is setting 50 yards in the woods on a feeder how much hunting has to take place. Its nothing more than a glorified treeing contest . Lets put the HUNT back in NITE HUNT

How can Ukc do away with feeders? They can't be on every cast. If it legal In your state nothing really can be done.

i dont like hunting a dog over bait unless i know it needs easy coons put on it like a young dog i got one bucket that i will cast a young dog on once he starts treeing those good its on to public land. now if a guys wants to hunt and breed dogs that are always hunted over feeder i dont mind thats his choice but a real coondog is one that aint hunted on buckets 3/4 of the time it gets hunted.

IF YOU DO AWAY WITH FEEDERS, ARE YOU GOING TO OUTLAW SWEET CORN PATCHES, CORN FIELDS?? HOW ABOUT OAK TREES, OR CHERRY TREES? HOW ABOUT TURNING UP A CREEK, SENDING THE DOGS AROUND THE POND?? THESE ARE ALL EXAMPLES OF "NATURAL FEEDERS"! ANYTIME YOU GO HUNTING, THE SUCCESS OF YOUR HUNT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ANIMALS YOU'RE PERSUING. THE HUNTS ARE STRUCTURED, BY U.K.C., TO DECLARE THE WINNER WHO TREES THE MOST COONS. UP HERE IN W.V., PEOPLE TRIED TO OUTLAW HUNTING IN PENNA. YOU MIGHT TREE THREE COONS ON A GOOD NIGHT WERE IN W.V., BUT YOU COULD PROBABLY SCORE ON SIX OR SEVEN IN PENNA. I BELEIVE THE OLD SAYING GOES HERE, WHILE IN ROME, ONE MUST DO AS THE ROMANS DO!!!

Brush i dont think he means it like that i think what he is getting at is you have a four dog cast and the man that guides takes the cast to his place were he has a bucket or two or more out and when they cast the dogs his dog goes left and the rest go every which way the guys dog is going to that feeder while the other dogs are doing what they need to do find them a coon the real way.

I don't see how you could enforce such a rule if I'm running feeders and I'm gonna guide I'll go the morning of the hunt and take the feeders out of the woods.
If I'm on another cast and the guide takes us to feeders well I hope my dog is faster on the track

I've got feeders but I don't comp hunt because it ain't my cup of tea I've only been to a few anyone that comes and hunts with me I tell them I have feeders even though we're just pleasure hunting I've never offered to guide because of this. now if I wasn't hunting myself I wouldn't hesitate to take a cast on one of my feeders if none of the dogs had been there before

I've said the same thing for years, believe me I lived in Wva for 12 years and lost several 1st place wins toward Grnt do to somone coming in with a bigger score do to hunting feeder buckets, I wonder about having 5 cast wins to make Grnt like other kc's would work because at the end of the night you can only beats the dogs you draw. just an Idea.

how u going ta win a hunt w/out putting feeders out.
points win hunts not a coondg! sad ta say but that is the way this
sport has evolved.
Besides how u going ta prove it?
make ur own level playing field"condition ur dog for it"!

£#^+ two /four can play that game!

Need to make it where you beat the dogs you get drawn out against. Not beat every dog at the hunt. Then feeders wouldn't matter.

That just about the stupidest thing I've read on here. Sore loser, sounds like to me! Just because it steps on one (sore losers ) toes we all must abide??? I don't think so. I hunt with or without feeders. When it comes to WINING a comp hunt I 'm going where the most coons are. Tough!!!deal with it! Just because you don't have a good easy place to hunt (with a lot of coon) doesn't mean we show bow to your whims. Grow up!

Talk about beating a dead horse. Everytime we have a big hunt and one or two dogs come in with a bucket feeder score, here we go again. This cannot be regulated. Most of us have permission to hunt other peoples land who allow several people to hunt as well. So how do I know if joe blow has been there to bait the deer. Myself I have a list of 70 woods I can guide to, is UKC going to send people out to check all the woods there guides have permission for. When I go down south to hunt or at a breed hunt I hope like heck I draw a bucket guide because I know thats what it takes to win. If you are able to guide and just to lazy and cheep to set up your own buckets to DAM bad. Most of the people who post about this simply don't have dogs that can compete rather they hunt buckets or not its just another exscuse and something to cry about. A coondog is a coondog buckets or not. You still have to beat the coondog.

Hillarious!!! All of you Last Boy Scout do Gooder types are either high or lying to one another. You can't honestly think we believe that if you can go to a place over run with coon on it ...WITH The forbidin feeders on it...you would say NO! Youd rather go to the desert with NO feed or water close by and try to rack up enough points to win the hunt maybe getting one coon? You are idiots. I don't believe that and you really don't either.

Uhhhh.........you would do yourself a favor by altering your view and completely doing away with the idea that comp hunting is any kind of sport whatsoever. Stop kidding yourself.

I agree with you on the feeders shouldnt be allowed. But youve got to look at the other side,if Ive got feeders out and Im going to a comp. hunt that night Ive got to go pull my feeders because I could guide that night. If Im guiding for a club Im doing them a favor.

The use of feeders in comp hunts over the years is one of the prime reasons why so many dogs can't run a track anymore and why there are so many tree happy idiots being bred.

I've got house dogs that can run and tree coon off of feeder buckets. I expect more of my coonhounds.
