Bark collars? What to buy?

Looking to purchase a bark collar any suggestions? Looking at the SportDog 10R or Deluxe bark collar Like the vibration and sound combo. before shocking since dogs penned close don't want any unwanted shock. Tritronics does not state if requires both to activate?

Bark collars

Figured on a good one , they say get what you pay for (or should LOL) Leaning towards the SBC18 sportdog, I think Sportdog should just send me one to test and do a survey on it, then I will send it back when done with it LOL. Might have it awhile if it last

I have two that I bought from Walmart. They are made from Dogtra and are the green ones. Going on two years and just replaced batteries in one of them. The other was on a pup so replaced them batteries earlier. Never had any issues at all with either one. I think they are great and a very great product.

Tri tron. use to be top of the line, I have some that still work that are 10 yrs old. However, now that they have put a sleep mode in them they are junk. They go in sleep mode and never come out. you have to take it apart and reset the collar to get it to work again. Not worth the trouble. It's ashame to they know this is a big problem, if they would just go back to the old collars w/o the sleep mode they would still be top dog.

I bought a few cheap-o collars from lowes and petco, and was never happy. Finally logged on Amazon and read some reviews. I picked up the SportDog 10R. I have had this collar for about 1 year now.

The rechargeable battery has held up great. My dog use to wear the collar every day, but she probably only wears it 1 or 2 days a month now. I keep it on charge and put it on here when needed.

It stopped the unwanted barking, and did an excellent job. The first few days was confusing for her, but she figured things out quick.

My dog has figured out that she can yelp and not get shocked. A whining sound or bark sets it off, but she makes this weird yelp that somehow bypass the vibration/sound sensor. I cant really hear it, but it drives my wife crazy. Almost like a wheezy breathing sound.

I originally had fears it would cause to not bark at the tree, but that is not the case. The dog knows when the collar is on and I have had he actually accidentally tree with the bark collar on.

I got mine on amazon for around $80 shipped and it was one of the best choices I made. The guy next door had a barking dog that kept my daughter awake at night. I nicely recommend he try my bark collar out for a few days, since he needed it worst than I did. After one day he was shocked at the difference and ordered one for his dog.

There has been times when the collar shocked the dog, which it should not have. It is rare, but loud sounds close to the collar are enough to setup the virberation/sound sensor.

If I was buying a bark collar today it would be the DOGTRA YS 500. I have used several and they work.

With that said Tri tronics is coming out with a new line of bark collars in a month or so. I am real interested in how they will perform. One is rechargeable and one is not.

Here is some info on them.

There’s no denying it – all dogs bark. But problems begin when the barking becomes incessant – often times when family members are away from the home and unable to deal with the problem. Neighbors start complaining, and in extreme cases, the landlord or animal control intervenes – forcing pet owners to make difficult decisions.

The new BarkLimiter series helps put an end to the problem by giving dog owners control over nuisance barking. Featuring bark identification technology that uses innovative accelerometer technology, the BarkLimiter is able to distinguish between barking and other vocalizations. Also exclusive to the new BarkLimiter Series is Advanced Bark Correction Technology, which delivers consistent and instantaneous correction, while substantially reducing false corrections that can be caused by external noises.

Like all Garmin products, the BarkLimiter Series is simple to use, with a set-it-and-forget-it “autorise” function that automatically programs the stimulation intensity level based on the barking behavior of each individual dog. When a bark is detected, the lowest level of correction is given, and corrections will rise until the dog stops nuisance barking. After a prolonged period of quiet, the BarkLimiter will reset itself to two levels below the dog’s maximum level reached and begin rising again if barking resumes. Vibration and manual settings are also included.

For dogs that spend time alone in an apartment or back yard, the Bark Odometer™ lets dog owners know exactly how many times their dog barked while they were away. The lightweight and compact BarkLimiter series features integrated stainless steel contact points and is waterproof in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Two versions are offered: the BarkLimiter, which features a long-lasting (up to 10 months) user-replaceable battery, and the BarkLimiter Deluxe, which features a rechargeable battery that lasts The BarkLimiter has a retail price of $79.99, and the BarkLimiter Deluxe has a retail price of $99.99. Both models will be available in stores and online in the first quarter of 2013.

They are also coming out with the DELTA SERIES.

The Delta Series

For dog owners that want both a training collar and a bark collar, the Delta Sport delivers – combining two great features into one small package. The Delta Sport is a sleek, ergonomic, and simple-to-use electronic training system for dog owners who want to teach their canine companion new commands, or refocus them away from unwanted behaviors. Functioning as a “virtual leash” up to three-quarters of a mile away, the Delta Sport gives dog owners a wide range of customizable correction settings, including tone, vibration, and 18 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation. And when not being used as a training collar, it serves double duty as a bark collar, with the same autorise feature found in the BarkLimiter Deluxe.

The Delta handheld’s easy-to-read LCD display makes it simple to switch among five different training configurations. The trainer can make immediate corrections when necessary – all based on the temperament of the dog and the specific situation at hand. The Delta handheld can control up to three collars total (sold separately) and switching between different dog collars is effortless. The lightweight and compact Delta features integrated stainless steel contact points and both the collar unit and handheld are waterproof in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes – and the transmitter floats. Both the handheld and collar unit come with rechargeable batteries that last up to three months on a full charge.

For trainers who only want e-collar functions (and no BarkLimiter), Garmin offers the Delta in a basic configuration with three training configurations (instead of five) and half-mile range.

The Delta has a retail price of $199.99, and the Delta Sport has a retail price of $249.99. Both models will be available in stores and online in the first quarter of 2013.
