Hormone problems

I have a 9 month old male pup that I have been running with my 4 year old female and he has been doing good treeing with her the last 2 weeks. Starting this week my female started to bark him of the tree, he is a pretty shy bluetick and he will just leave the tree and stand off about thirty yards. It seems to me from some other activity I have seen that she is starting to come in heat. Could the hormones be causing her to run him off the tree? I have never had her ill at the tree. EVER. Will this continue through her whole heat cycle? Should I keep these dogs from hunting together until her cycle is over?

A hunting buddy of mine used to have a female that would bite people around the tree when she was starting to come in heat. I can't see why another dog would be any different. You did say the pup was 9 months old though and pups sometimes want to jump and play at the tree and pounce on other dogs. Could this be whats going on? I know I have a female that is good as gold around other dogs but will roll a pup if they keep on jumping. and playing gnawing ears and such.

I don't think he is jumping on her or annoying her because I have watched them tree caged coons together and coons together while hunting. It was just this week she started this. I hope it's her heat cycle because my male isn't ready to be singled out yet.

No I don't want her bred and yea I realize I can't hunt them together when she is in for that reason but I am just wondering If this is causing her to run him off the tree..
