Anybody else have there Alpha shut down when going through the menus? Also the collar is shutting off by itself. The collar shut off 2 times last night after dog was turned loose. The handheld is not as big of a problem but the collar shutting off really is.

not had any problems with the collar yet but my alpha shut off no less than 10 times the other night. really irritates me. spend that kind of money on something that shuts off.

Mine was cutting off a couple of times a night. I downloaded birdseye imaging and now it's much, much worse. I hope garmin offers an upgraded software that'll fix it soon.

Mine is doing the same and I have the birdseye, I thought it was a fluke because it was so cold but sounds like its not just me. This is not good!

If some thing is that expensive they need to make them work right before they sell them. The collar is really what bothers me. You can't turn that back on till you get your dog on a leash.

I've never had my collar to shut off...I've had it to love signal for 2 hours at only 500 yards away....but since I updated the firmware on the collar I haven't had that problem any more (fingeres crossed)

That's pretty much like anything touch screen they always shut there's elves off which is why I find anything touch screen worthless

Todd, face it, we bought junk!!! LOL. Atleast we are not the only 2 having this problem. Its absolutely ridiculous to spend that kind of money to get a product with this many problems. Im still not lettin loose of my Astro 220 and DC30's. Im not a believer yet. I have already sent one alpha back for shutting off.

yea they should have spent there time making a new dc collar that had better range and a 500 hr battery life or something not just more junk.garmins are great when every things working but worthless when there not

I have been doing extensive testing on the Alpha system. I have been through 4 handhelds. I typically run 4 collars at once. I hog hunt blueticks. I leave the update rate at 2.5 seconds. I find this the most helpful in the timber. Let me explain a few issues that exist.

Through working with Garmin support staff, I have learned a few details. When they were originally released, there was an issue with battery housing demensions. The battery was not held snug enough in the compartment. This will cause the unit to "freeze" up, and slowly power down. The whole process takes 2 seconds. When you repower it starts right back up going through the power up process checking for maps and such. The more Birdseye that is stored on internal memory and micro Sd, the longer it takes to initialize. Garmin recommends placing a small folded piece of paper on battery to "tighten" it up in compartment.

I'll stop here for now. I'm working with the engineers to provide them video of issues with current software. They are working on updates for the glitches.

BOYS THATS WHY I STILL HAVE MY TRACKER CLASSIC WITH OUT THE TOWER YOU LOOSE SIGNALS THEY WORK JUST LIKE A CELL PHONE THE HIGH TECH STUFF HAS TOO MANY LOOP HOLES FOR ME TOO OWN ONE WERE I HUNT NO MATTER WERE THEY TREE YOU HAVE A LOOONG WALK NO SHORT CUTS LOL

Sounds like garmin needs to fix the problem with all the ones they sold. I should not have to put a small piece of paper in a 800 dollar handheld computer. If that is the way they want us to fix the problem they can just buy mine back. That is BS to fix a high dollar piece of equipment with a piece of paper!

I'll stick with my 320 & DC 40's .Might loose one sattellite but not all 15 of them at once. Nothing better for back up than a good compass and common sense. jmo
