Those that just get it all wrong.

Went to a hunt tonight at a club, and the hunt was terrible from the get-go. I had to enter a dog conditionally (papers at UKC now) and had to go through hell and spell out the rules on the situation before being permitted to enter. Then there weren't enough judges and the club wanted to just draw from a hat, before I protested and made everyone in the place hate me. Then the cast I was on, just as bad. "Let's call timeout but still score the tree..." "All spectators can shine..." A tree with no hole, no nest, all alone with no coon seen gets circled. It was just terrible. Now I haven't been in a competition hunt in 4 years. Has it really gotten this bad that quickly?

Sorry, had to vent.

You can enter a dog with out a card or papers on a conditional entrey for a additional fee of 5 bucks as long as you know the dogs number and registered name if you put the wrong info down your just out your money

JiM, the papers are being processed by UKC now, as I'm the new owner of the dog. There is a new owner provision to follow for conditional entries.

That'd be okay if it weren't a kennel club sponsored event, which has rules.

hunt

the reason i dont hunt ukc. more fussing over a trophy than you can stand. not all casts are this way but you hardly ever see anyone take their minus. a lot less fussing in the other registry.

Drawing from a hat for a judge is just a joke a judge is supposed to know the rules drawing from a hat could get you a judge that has never seen a rule book!!

Step up

Our local clubs need your support. Are you a member of this or any other club? Did you offer to judge? Did you offer to guide? These hunts don't run themselves. If you had been the judge you could have minused those tree's.Help out next time and you will have a much better hunt.

1- it's the clubs responsibility to have enough ABLE guides and judges.
2- it's impossible to minus a tree when 3 vote to circle, no matter who you are.
3- it's EVERY handler's responsibility to know and ABIDE by the rules, judge, handler, spectator or guide.

I agree with this but there is a catch to #1

Coonhunters need to join at least 1 local club and be active in a positive way to make it better. Find land to guide on and learn the rule so they can be available to judge. When at a neighboring club, offer to guide if you are needed. They might have to set a later deadline but will get all the hunters in the woods.

I am seeing more and more hunters not wanting to put the extra effort into the sport but want clubs to provide all the necessary ingredients to make a hunt successful.

and thats the reason i say do away with circle points plus or minus in fact do away will all the rules and go by these rules 4 dog cast turn dogs loose strike dogs tree dogs coon seen plus coon not seen minus no time on strike but still have five to close out a tree and two on the dogs declared tree still other then that throw the bs loophole crap out so no one can bend the rules be alot less dogs in the hunts but you would help the breeds out the most and thats what counts if your worried about winning titles and trophy get into shooting matches.

Ukc needs to grow a set.if u got a ?.if u know deep down your rite put 20 bucks in and get a panel back to the tree if the agree with u the other cast members will be repremended and not able to judge or even banned for a yr that way they wouldnt do the dumb s#it like that and have a fair ruling on situations likethat one this is one reason i dont hunt ukc much anymore!!!!!
