Getting a dog off a tree

Hey guys last night i went hunting and my male dog treed and there was no coon. So we took him off and took him probably 75yds away and turned him loose and he went right back to the same tree. any way you guys break this or is it just a thing that happens?

Thanks

Just a ?

Was he trained or told the tree was dead ?
I ask this before breaking a hound from something that would be corrected by training vs. correcting

EVERY time I leave a tree I let them know verbaly "DEAD" tree = done here go get another...

Just something that has worked for me.. but not everybody I am sure

Many like to lead a dog along way off a tree but if they go back it's a long way back to do anything about it and my temper is suffering to much by that time .
I prefer being within sight of the tree so I see what's going on and correct it by being sure they go on . If I'm sure they made a mistake I run them off the tree and tell them to find it without leading them anywhere .

I would do like Dale said and try to cut him from the same tree, also if you do walk him away from the tree I would have someone stay at that tree to run him off if he decides to come back.

I walk bout 50 yards away. So I can be close enough to holler at em. Then if that dont work. I'll holler and bump em a little. Get more bumping if they dont figure it out. If you got somebody with ya. Get them to lead dog off. You stay at tree. If it comes back. Whip it and tell it to get on. Do this regular. Want be long you can cut it right off any tree. If it has sence. I cant tolerate one going back. Its to easy to fix and in pkc youll get that tail scratched for it.

Thanks guys and i know there was scent because when we took him off he didn't go running to the tree he would go like he was following a track so i believe there was smell on it. also every time i pull any dog off of a tree if there is no coon. I always say "Dead Coon" or "Bad Tree"
