It would be nice to give Garmin some competition to maybe drop the prices of some of this stuff, but I don't see Marshall being able to compete with Garmin as far as GPS goes. Garmin doesn't do telemetry, but they have been dealing with GPS for years and I don't think that anyone can compete with the head start they have on everything. In the time it has taken Marshall to release this system that has been talked about for years now, Garmin is tracking hounds, navigating you through the world, and mapping and combining fields. Like I said I hope it's good, but I don't believe they will win the battle against Garmin.

you have to understand that garmin was in the gps business WAY before it got into hound tracking. so ummmm yes everyone is behind garmin far as gps technology. that would only make sense. but i also remember when Nite Lite was the lite to have too. Now look at the market.

i agree Jim. garmin has missed a big market in western big game hunters. marshall being based in utah, they will probably be building a unit off of alot of input from the western big game guys.

garmin should have fixed all the dc 40 collar issues maybe got better range and battery life before coming out with a new system not compatible with the old.i hope that marshall is listening and maybe they will have the solution to all the garmin problems.i have telemetry collars that are 10 to 14 years old never been sent off.but i have already had to replace the 3 dc 40s i bought in febuary 2012!they are junk! they were under warranty but still the reliability isnt there.jmo

It gonna be hard to beat Garmin they have all the maps and are well established in the GPS market. As far as Marshall being better and is going to make leaps and bounds past Garmin I seriously dont think that will ever happen. With the Alpha out garmin has covered the track/shock part and if you dont want that they have the 220's and 320's. So how would Marshall be so much better? It cant be with the GPS because unless the team up with another manufacturer like maggelin Marshall will not have any maps. Im all for competition in this gps tracking stuff so maybe the price will go down but Garmin has a top notch product out and is steady updating from the original line and Marshall hasnt even got out the barn yet but claims it will be higher than the garmin when it does come out... I see an epic FAIL coming soon

I agree with the last two posts whole heartedly. Garmin should have fixed every flaw with the Astro and DC collars before they ever thought about expanding to an e-collar combo that is not compatible with the current units. The hounds get to wear one less collar, but people will still have the same complaints about the GPS. Like I said previously, I hope Marshall puts out a good product so there is competition, but I believe they will be playing catch-up for years to come.

I'm afraid Marshall is going to be expensive! We need some cheaper competition, not much competition when Marshall will more than likely be more expensive than Garmin. Marshall has got the best beep beep collars out there(JMO)! Is it possible that Marshall will be better than Garmin? We'll have to wait and see! I can't count them out!

At one time a guy on here talked like he tested a Marshall or something. I was downing them like normal! He sent me his number to call him and find out more about them. I called once. Then lost the number. He was serious they would be out soon though. Now I can't wait to see them. Shoot they may be a beep beep, shocker and gps all in one.

I get 2-3 miles consistently out of my Garmin, do you really need more than that for a coonhound?? If for some strange reason they got farther than that the roof mount antenna I have tracked over 5 in testing.

No need for radio as my dogs never get out of GPS range.

Not sure exactly why it would need be built better.

My Garmin doesn't drop signal.

i like my sportdog tek 1. i don't like the fact it does not have the maps and it takes some working with but its a good unit. very accurate and fewer dropped signals than garmin. they all have there ups and downs, but i still like my beep system at times

so the coon hunters are the only ones that should be able to have GPS , big game hunters are not allowed to have something that works more than 3 miles ,and you must live in north dakota where you can see 7 miles at a time !!!
