In the mid to late 1980s the national mental health system was dismantled. Someone somewhere decided that the rights of the mentally ill were being violated by deeming someone "insane" and committing them to the care of state managed mental health "hospitals".

Today the mental health hospitals are nothing more than specialized prisons, with the majority of persons in those mental hospitals are those that have been sentenced to those facilities due to some criminal act.

When the ability to take a sociopath off the street, and commit them to the care of the state mental health system gone, those folks are now among us. Their "rights" are now infringing on the rights of others.

Because a nut case can get national attention on the 24 hour media by walking into a mall, a school, or a movie theater and open fire, every time with weapons that they may have been able to purchase legally, but most are owned by others.

We all know that guns don't walk into an elementary school and kill 20 kids! Nut cases with a history of mental illness, that are psychopathic, that instead of walking the street need to be locked away and given the proper mental health treatment that they need.

So that's why in the 80s and 90s when I was in school. We didn't hear bout no mass shootings? All I'd like to hear now from them is. America pray for the people and family's that were killed today .. Also pray for the officer or citizens who had to shoot this scum down. Then hush about it.

Actually I put a lot of blame on the media. Out of the last five mass shootings, I challenge you all to do a little research. How much easier is it to find the killer's name than just ONE of the victims.

These crazies would probably just off themselves in the basement of momma's house if we didn't immortalize them and their selfish act for 72 hours non-stop on every 24 hour talking head show on television. They are going to kill themselves anyway, but if they kill 20 elementary school kids, they don't die a "nobody", but they go out "in a blaze of glory".

They will most assuredly burn in the hottest corner of hell for eternity....but those left behind will be able to put a name to the senseless act, and in doing so, they become "someone".

is explaining to the church to be respsonsible to elected officials and government. That is why our vote is so important in putting lawmakers over us to govern us. When you vote in congressmen, representatives and a president that believes in abortion, same sex marriage, no mention of God in the public halls, we have placed over us laws makers who put laws into place that are against every biblical principle God has asked us to keep.

When you didnt vote against Obama or any democratic nominee at any state level, you voted against the word of God. I am not saying rebpublicans were the answer, but I know the democratic platform that they have posted for the world to see and I saw with my own eyes on national t.v. where they voted with their mouths three times to deny the exisistence of God into their platform, they told me everything I ever needed to vote for and against.

School shootings have been going on for a lot longer than i thought. You just never heard about them because there was no internet, no smart phone, no ukc website, no facebook, and there wasnt 15 or 20 twenty four hour a day news stations. The media blows this stuff up, and then gives other losers, crazies, and outcasts the idea to do it too. Joe is also correct about the mental institutions. Drs prescrib every drug under the sun, and I think alot of time , it makes things worse. I see these commercials that are like " does your toe hurt?" Ask your dr about toeagra, side effects include, then they list about 100 side effects, and some of them are violent tendancies or paraniod, or psychotic episodes, and the Dr's hand this crap out like its candy. Here is a list of school shootings that date back to the 1700's.

Some of yall are so paraniod, I dont know how you even function in normal society. Paranoid people and guns, shouldnt go together. What in 4 yrs has he done to even hint he is going to ban guns? If you didnt know, there was already an assault weapon ban that expired on 2010, and he did nothing to renew it. Why dont you speak on facts, rather than on fear and being extremely paranoid. Some of yall sound crazy.

Why wouldnt senators and representatives offer their thoughts and prayers? Thats the right thing to do. I dont know a single person involved in the tradegy, but I offered my thoughts and prayers.... But until there is an issue and he starts bringing up gun bans, (which is not gonna happen) MAYBE an assault weapon bans, but again, that has been a law until 2010, so not sure why everyone is acting like that would be the end of the world, why get so paranoid and worked up about it...I heard people say the 2nd admendment was to protect us against the government, and who wants to fight the gov with a rifle, or a shotgun.TRUE, however, I wouldnt want to fight the gov with an AR 15 or an AK 47 with a 30 round clip, the government has tanks and apachie helicopters, fighter jets, ect. If a war broke out between the civilians and the gov, it dont matter what kind of guns the public has, the gov has bigger and better guns. Its not like the old days when the only thing available is a black powder muzzle loader and it was an even playing field. Civilians will not be able to defeat the government if all hell breaks loose, thats just the sad facts.

The one thing I did notice was the overwhelming twitter comments from senators and representatives offering their thoughts and PRAYERS.

Mcveigh killed 19 children ( under 6) along with 149 others and never used an assault weapon.
We need to rething 'main-streaming' the mentally ill.
